One of the absolute greatest wide receivers of all time, and if he had played for any other team than the Dallas Cowboys, then the bias against Dallas list maker would have had him placed much higher on this list.

Irvin was more physical than all of those guys combined. He originated the physical superstar receiver. And in his best 8 seasons, he has a larger percentage of his teams receiving yards than any wr all time. Moss and rice behind him.

What they don't understand is when Emmitt got to the 2nd level he was never brought down on the first hit, if he was 1 on 1 with a defender he's definitely getting by him with no problem. Besides all that, that great offensive line was only dominant for 5 years tops. They were atrocious after that. L. Allen was the only one of the 5 that was great for an extended period of time.

Everyone likes to underplay Michael Irvin’s numbers, but remember that this was an extremely low volume passing offence. Aikman threw for 20 TD’s in a season once in his entire career. This offence was run through Emmitt Smith.

That's why Irvin's touchdown numbers are low, but he actually has really good peak yardage stats. Led the league in receiving in 1991 with 1523 yards and had over 1600 yards in 1995 while 2 other seasons over 1300 yards. In fact, Irvin's career average of 74.9 yards per game is the highest career receiving yards per game average for any receiver whose career ended before 2000.

Emmitt Smith shouldn't even be top 50. He was a system guy with a phenomenal offensive line. Switch places with Barry Sanders and Barry averages 2000+ yards a season and Emmitt is averaging 900 yards a season.

I’d have Cris Carter ahead of Michael Irvin. Best hands in the last 30 years. Had incredible sideline awareness. There’s reason why people say, “All he does is catch touchdowns.” The greatest quality a receiver can have is sure hands. Rice, Moss, and Carter had some of the best hands the game has ever had.

I hated Irvin when he played for Miami Hurricanes in college.I was a BIG Oklahoma Sooner fan and for 3 straight years Michael and the Hurricanes KICKED Oklahoma ASS. Those were Oklahoma's only lose in those 3 years....Possibly stopping Oklahoma from winning 3 straight National Championships. When Irvin would make a BIG PLAY AGAINST Oklahoma he would always raise his arms high in the air after the play.....I hated that. But Oklahoma could not stop him Lol.

All the people who think he should be higher are on crack. He was good for sure and his team was successful but the entire Cowboys offense was loaded. But I always wondered what he could have done in a system like Green Bay after Sterling was injured that very year? His mentality about winning and being a part of the team is what makes him a legend. He could always be counted on for that 3rd and 9 late in a game.
