Agree. At this point the fan & media speculation over QBs is insane but media missed on Mahomes. The 70s Steelers, 80s 49ers, 90s Cowboys & the Patriots built their dynasties ignoring media arrogant media demands (although it might have contributed to Steelers Noll missing on Marino).

Looking back, 1984-1988 was a pretty dry period for QB's (Paul Zimmerman wrote an "APB for QB's" article for the Sports Illustrated 1988 NFL Season Preview).

Well in fairness, Perry was not worth the first in terms of his ability as a defensive lineman. He was serviceable, maybe good at times, but was never truly worth that draft position

How many other picks did they have in that draft though, and where were they in the pecking order?
@KWCline912 жыл бұрын
@@bryancoats5328 they had eight picks after Perry. 2nd (49), 3rd (78), 4th (105), 7th (190), 8th (217), 9th (250), 10th (273), 11th (302). Except for their 4th round pick (Kevin Butler, K), none of the other Bears picks that year were much of contributors.

Buster Rhymes had ONE season of "solid " kick returning, in 1985 he led the league in number of kicks returned and kick return yards but he did not lead the league in average yards per kick return, he played in 5 games in 1986 and he had 9 kick returns. He played in 20 games during his 2 year NFL career and he caught a total of 8 passes for 149 yards and 0 TD's. He was as solid as the contents of a balloon.

@@philthornton1382 Rozelle killed the proposed 3-way trade between the Colts, Raiders, and Bears, which would've brought Elway to the Raiders, absolutely. What’s amazing is the NFL still hasn’t learned that you can’t cut your staff and players as soon as they make a mistake. If you do that, other teams will pick them up. And after they’ve shaken off the nerves those players and staff you had no faith end with absolutely dominant. This scenario happens over and over and over again.
