I don't have a problem with his rank due to the very long history of the NFL. Keep in mind that there are tons of great players who missed out on the television era. Lots of names you don't know.. from decades before you were born. The fact that he's on this list is quite an honor.
@jimwhite1061 Жыл бұрын
@@PapaEli-pz8ff Larry Allen IS the strongest player in football history. Emit Smith set the nfl rushing record running mainly behiend him. Emit Smith was no Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, or OJ Simpson. He didn't have to be because he was running behiend a line that created running lanes like they did. Larry Allen was the dominant reason. I've played football and coached and have been a specialized line coach teaching technique. I don't buy that players past about 1970 could compete with elete today, because of specialized training. When I was in high school most athletes played the 3 major sports. They went out and played each sport as it came. Not so today, any player serious about the sport trains, and gets training, all year around. That starts in high school now. So I'll say it again Larry Allen IS top 50, probably top 20.

I’m recently become a Larry Allen fan. And after careful review of “The Play” in his rookie year where he ran down the linebacker and saved the touchdown; I wanted to know just how fast he was ran. Larry started running on the 38 at yard line at the hash which is 70.9 feet from the the sideline. He caught the Linebacker on the sidelines at the Dallas 16 yard line. Approximately 46 yards (or 138 feet) from the Opposing teams 38 yard line. Using the a2 +b2 = c2. I calculated that Larry Allen 51.69 yards (or 155.07 feet) from the hash mark at the 38 yard line to the 16 yard line. Using a stop watch I timed it at 5.66 seconds from the time Larry took off until he made contact with the opposing player. My next question was how fast did he run. S=D/T indicates he was traveling 27.39 feet per second. This doesn’t sound like anything until you realize that a 40 yard dash is 120 feet. This means that Larry Allen a 330 man on that day could have conceivably ran a 40 yard dash in full football gear ran approximately 4.38. There are other factors and all my measurements are based on the film available but nevertheless that play is truly an amazing Human feat of strength and endurance.

If he even ran a 4.5 for his size and strength that would be amazing. If he really hit sub 4.4 speeds that is truly superhuman

#95 is a slap in the face, Larry was a dominating Beast on the OL and deserves at least top 25 if not higher.

92 AK he'll Rayfield Wright was great tackle he lead TD in his career, just like Tyrone Smith leading Eziel he could break Eric Dickerson rookie record 2 games at buck fifty a piece.

@@JOHNSTIER23 the Bob brown that the Rams got from Philly to keep Carl Eller off Roman Gabriel's back. nah he wasn't quick enough. I'm 62 & have a good memory. Eller weighed 247 & had no problems.

Possibly my favorite play ever is Larry Allen preventing the pick-six, and I am not even a Cowboys fan.

The new one just needs a better right tackle (Doug Free gets hurt too much)

Agree, if anyone is weak on the Dallas O-line it's Doug Free, he gets hurt too much, he's old and he sucked ass against the Giants this past Sunday.

@iAintSayDat that sounds reasonable. If he was in his prime I was thinking $20 million a year for a 5-7 year contract...

LARRY ALLEN VS AARON DONALD..WHAT A MATCH UP!!!
@brianwolf61664 жыл бұрын
Being a Cowboy fan, I recorded almost all of their games from 93-99 and would literally watch Allen every play ... he would always hit his man then block at the second level ... he always would hit and run through at least two guys and if another linemen engaged someone while Larry was free, he would maul that poor defensive player ... they have outlawed those cleanoff hits basically.
