@@marinurevic-tomas8109 - Agree to disagree. Eli was more lucky than good. In no other moments in his 16 years of playing was he even CLOSE to doing that again. If you're great, you'll have more instances of great moments. If this wasn't the case, more one hit wonder guys would have more to show than those one hits...i.e. Trent Dilfer, Doug Williams, etc. Eli simply has two moments, where he threw a great pass. One of those, he just winged it to avoid a sack. Let's just leave it what it is.
@marinurevic-tomas81094 жыл бұрын
@@blackSUAAAVE You missed the subject. This is not a discussion on how good Eli was. We are talking about the greatest throws. Eli, who never had the strongest hand btw. gets the ball at his 10 after Brady almost seales the game with 3:42 remaining and down 2. It is a tight game. He snaps the ball, looks right for a moment, switches his sight to left, sees Mario, throws a 50 yard perfect spiral into double coverage on the sideline. It falls into Manninghams hands and he is tackled right after. If he mistimed it by .1 of a second it would not be a catch. That catch changes the momentum of a game, and with Giants needing a field goal it basically seals it. Against the greatest coach and qb ever. Not to mention Bill said make him go to Manningham, cover Cruz and Nicks. And to the best throw and catch to happen right in front of him, was unbeilivable. I could debate you on Elis greatness, but that is not a subject here. Give me one better throw if you can.

Manning to Manningham is about as perfectly executed a throw and catch as you could ever have. Eli threw it long and with exact precision to where only his receiver could get it, and Manningham managed to keep both feet in and haul the ball in with two defenders on him. Unreal execution on both sides of the play. The Helmet Catch from 42 is more memorable because it was a miraculous recovery on a broken play and is more magical and luckier in that regard. But in terms of pure execution, Manning to Manningham is about as good as it gets.

Admired the amazing field generals, Staubach, Starr, Unitas, Van Broklin, Montana, Brody, Breese. Always amazed at the slickfoot guys, Tarkington, Wilson, Vick,. Having mentioned all this, I would find it a disservice to disparage someone because they made too many appearances. Perhaps it's because that person keeps making incredible throws every game. I have never seen a QB in my life possess the quickest release, the most accurate throws with the tightest spirals consistently, and often under duress in an awkward position as I have witnessed with Aaron Rodgers. That was an excellent throw, catch, and two feet in. Amazing, but so disappointing that it ruined the Cards 1st SB win.

Anyone else think "the catch" is super overrated? 16:45 is the same type of play except more difficult

The play that launched a dynasty? Hard to overrate it.
@bkoetter424 жыл бұрын
It's not an overrated moment in history. however, to still call it the number one throw in NFL history is overrating it at this point. That I can agree on.
@MrCodeman20364 жыл бұрын
100% I agree, and knew before I finished the video that it would be number one, and I think it's just been so overhyped because it took place back in the 80s which is now almost 40 years ago...So it's been very romanticized over the years, and it just doesn't really hold up anymore...But because the play itself received a nickname so long ago, I think it's always going to be treated as one of the greatest plays of all time...At this point in my opinion it should be lucky to make the top 100 throws...But maybe if you want to call it, top 100 throws in the biggest moments, it can moved much higher on that particular list

Yes. Go back and watch any touchdown montage on red zone and I guarantee their will be at least one play like that

Montana was throwing it away !!! He deserves zero credit !!! He just threw up there and figured it’s either a TD or 4th and goal. Clark was no where nears the ball. Montana has to HOPE Clark is going to break back to Joe’s right !! If anything it was pure luck. The pure athleticism of the play is at best average !!

Manning, two Top 5 throws, and both in the Super Bowl are pretty impressive!!!
@Justanotherinvisible3 жыл бұрын
One was great. The other was him lobbing it up and a not so good receiver making the play of his life by being lucky enough to trap the ball against his helmet and not lose it. Eli doesnt deserve to have 2 rings
@jackbridges24352 жыл бұрын
@@Justanotherinvisible Sure Eli deserves 2 rings, he won 2 Super Bowls and I believe that is the modern pre-requisite for getting a ring. Also, you have to play the game to win it and on those 2 Sundays, the Giants were better.

@@jackbridges2435 by that logic...of course OJ is innocent. The jury said so. Therefore he was innocent by definition. Clearly if a magician lawyer and a moronic jury of 12 said so...its true.

The D played big but Manning was really good during those 2 playoff runs. He absolutely deserves them. Team sport. Team did great and Manning Did great.

Number 28, one of the best throw/catch combos I've ever seen. The degree of difficulty for both on the same play, in that situation, is insane
