I'm from Portland, and grew up listening to Poison Idea. Thanks for this interview. It's good to see that Jerry is in a better place now.

This is why I love Poison Idea, they truly embodied the heart and soul of rock ‘n’ roll. Live it, can’t escape from the chaos. Inspiration from 13th Floor Elevators, Beach Boys, ELO, The Germs etc. Shit goes way deeper than angry kid’s two cents on society.

My first show at 17 yrs old was in 1987 Portland,Oregon.,at Pine Street Theater.,GBH & The Accused., .,A few weeks later I saw Poison Idea for free after me & my friend were hanging out in front of the downtown Safeway.,"Jerry A" pulled up in a taxi., And my friend Jason started talking to him.,Then I got to go into Safeway & buy his lighter fluid for the show.,Then he left.,we took the bus over to Pine Street Theater.,We asked the door person for Jerry & he showed up to let us in.,then me & another friend got super baked then watched Poison Idea play with Pig Champion,Thee hippie slayer.,Mondo..etc & Jerry A.,Saw him again at "The Satyricon" when "The Undead" played., We got to meet the band before the show out front getting baked & they crashed at my friends house after the show.,I didn't know it then.,,. but that was "Bobby Steele" from "The Misfits".,He had vampire teeth crowns.,(?) Jerry A & a friend showed up later at the house after the show.,they went & hung out in the back of the house.,I was to busy with this girl from PSU in the living room.,.the guitar player stayed out in the band van with "Karen" from Clackamas Towne Center.,She worked at "TCBY" yogurt or something.,My little brother has a VHS of "Tonya Harding" skating at Clackamas Towne Centre in the 1990's somewhere.,She skates up to my brother.,he asked a dorky question.,then she skates off.,hahahaha.,.,`;;'.,

Why am I thinking that Kurt Cobain was at this Poison Idea show? I could be totally wrong here and being confused on another show or musician/rockstar. Obviously this was before Kurt Cobain was a huge and popular rockstar, so he could have been there and no one would have even noticed. Anyways, I'm about to fact check my little "theory" or whatever 😂 but thanks for sharing your story. I really love reading these!

Man I loved Poison Idea!! Great live band. Fire spitting an all. And the main albums still stand the test of time. Easily still the best mix of Punk and Metal or H. C.! Jerry is such a genuinly cool person. I really am very happy for him to have come out of everything this good. Which seems highly unlikely after all he went thru! Much Love from Germoney! Good on ya!

I remember seein Poison Idea in Sneek, my hometown, north of the Netherlands. I was kinda drunk, not much people. One punk chick in front of the stage spitting. And one headbanger going nuts. That headbanger was me. That show was brilliant.

First time I saw Poison Idea was 87 I think? They opened for Broken Boanes and UK Subs at Pine St. Saw them many times back then. They consistantly opened for any good touring punk band that stopped in Portland, and they headlined for the local bands. Great times

Where do I start?!!?I knew of PI and then I moved there to Portland and I was in line at the METHADONE CLINIC and he said he loved my Blitz patch and said you should come see my band play and I see a big guy with a beard and thought 🤔 and it was Tom Pig Champion and he put me on the list for the show and I was thinking How awesome it was and then I started dating Chris Cuthbert and I lived in Jerry A s old bedroom in Tom's house and he was living there with an old hippie guy who was cool and I ended up buying a Bass guitar and getting lessons from Tom Pig and I knew it was a cool thing but I think I have realized how special it was and then that was a friend for life and I have a PI tattoo that is big enough 😂I have it for him and they are A BAND that is so talented and great guys RIP TOM& THEE SLAYER HIPPIE & CHRIS CARRIE AND ROB 😭💯💉💉💉💊💊💊😭 LOVE YOU ALL AND HI JERRY GREAT TO HEAR YOUR DOING WELL 👍🏻❤️

Because of Jerry A, and Aldine Strychnine, alot of my musical taste evolved ....There are certain fellas in a lady's life that were influential regarding their musical knowledge, and because I've always been into the different, the strange, the obscure, hard to find,( record collectors and pretentious asshole thing), I would ever only associate with someone that has atleast my musical knowledge or much better which would equal my ex husbands musical knowledge which is extensive and much of it from Jerry A, Jerry had a big influence on Aldine no doubt, so because of Jerry and his huge gigantic entity inside his head pertaining to anything in the realm of cool music, that gift,he gave to Aldine which Aldine gave to me, and like a herpes virus I in turn share with anyone who inquires, but whoa how I digress.Ive been meaning to travel to Portland to see what's going on there because I've heard that shit was all crazy there now, I've heard it's anarchy abundant, that there's no rules to follow now,and Aldine told me he stayed at Jerry's friend's house which is now his friends home but was once some crazy lunatic asylum which sounds way up my alley, and I always wanted to go see the squat house that Mia Zapata loved at when the Gits SIGNED onto some label or became I don't know the word I'm looking for, but I will one day see the cool underground portals that be been there forever where all kinds of weirdness went down,I had some very bizarre things going on in my life last time I was in contact with Jerry and I forget what happened which made us lose contact but it was great texting or messaging or whatever it was how we were communicating, and that open your eyes album w Jeff Dahl strangely was always playing and at that time whoa omg how I was relating because my landlord was this fbi fella and so of course me being a junkie at the time made me paranoid and I was constantly being watched and it made me that much more paranoid and the gang stalking was going on but thankfully now that's in the past, anyway,if Jerry reads this please get my number from Aldine.
