Saying that Drake has 3 to 4 classics, while Kendrick only has 3 is the hottest take in this entire video.
@jraith219 күн бұрын
As amazing as Kendrick’s albums are, I feel like they don’t have the entire community around them. Neither Section 80 nor Mr. Morale are considered classics amongst the general population. Untitled Unmastered and Overly Dedicated are even further from that title. IMO, Kendrick’s got 5 classics, maybe 6 if GNX ages as well as his older work.

another hot take: a classic album doesn't need to reach the masses upon it release to make an impact. As long as the hip hop community is aware and see the vision, it made its impact. Take Madvillainy for example, it didn't reach the masses but the community took in in high regard, and overtime future hip hop fans got caught up, and we're taking in high regard as well.
@alexaponte88237 ай бұрын
I agree with this completely, but madvillainy needed time to become discovered and gain momentum enough to be considered a classic. I feel like that's almost a given; to have a massive album on that mainstream level you pretty much have to compromise SOME of your artistic vision, whereas, if you're more underground there are less of those pressures. I’ve been an Nf fan for a while now. I’ve seen him at concert and watched his growth musically over the years and I have to say it’s very impressive. Going back to his early albums of mansion and therapy session, you will get tracks that really show where he came from including mansion, therapy session, all I have, how could you leave us, notepad, and many more. But as much as I do like some of those songs there are def some skips on those albums including turn the music up, face it, and motivated. Looking at his biggest albums in perception and the search, these albums are low-key bangers. Off both albums combined there is 2-4 skips for me. These albums have some of the most deep written lyrics of emotion that hip hop has ever seen. Then going into his two new projects, he has gone into an approach of showing his capability in the studio and showing what he can truly do with his pen. You have songs like that’s a joke, trust FT tech nine, lost FT hopsin, paid my dues, careful FT cordae, and other tracks with amazing beat switches like suffice and layers. NF is interesting because although he puts up numbers, he doesn’t have the impact of other rappers due to him not cussing, and getting views from one of the most loyal fan bases in hip hop. NF has always been that guy who is behind the curtains a bit. I’d suggest listening to outcast where he talks about being the standout from the rest of rap. But through all of this, I would truly suggest giving at least perception and the search a full album listen. I can absolutely understand that he may not be for everybody which is totally fine, but do know that when it comes to the pen, I truly believe he’s one of the best in the game. Can’t wait for the next drop.

Exactly. I don’t know how this was even an argument. Monster dropped when Future was still on his come up and that tape basically cemented where Future would go from there. It’s easily one of the most important projects for the emerging late-trap sound that would become the most prominent sound in hip hop for the next like half a decade at least if not further. 4YEO came after Cole had already released FHD, and that was widely considered as “his classic”, not to mention 4YEO has “Folding Clothes” on it which consistently gets dunked on for being boring. Until this video, I’ve never heard anyone say that 4YEO is a classic. Tl;dr: Monster - yes, 4YEO - no

I understand what y'all trying to say, But I think there are albums that are 100% classics for the lanes they're in that aren't unanimously celebrated in terms of popularity. XXX & Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown or Pinata & Bandana by Freddie Gibbs for example I'd absolutely consider classics, Even if they aren't as widely known by the masses. I think there are several instances of this honestly, 1999 by Joey Badass is an underground classic, IMO the greatest mixtape of all time but the majority of people haven't heard of it. Veteran by JPEGMAFIA is an experimental classic, Probably the most unique, Off the wall album I've heard and the majority of people haven't heard of it. Also, I know people love to clown on Logic but projects like Undeniable, WTF or Under Pressure I honestly believe people would be more willing to consider a classic if his career didn't go in the direction it did, People forget just how highly regarded Logic was at one point before he dropped 1800 and slowly became the internets punching bag, Now people are even too afraid to give Logic any praise whatsoever cause they know they'll likely get made fun of, But his YS/UP days were legit.

Ion get why everyone overlooks 2014 Forrest Hills Drive for having classic status, I always thought that shi was a given

If Kendrick or Cole had as many bangers as Drake did on CLB, More Life,Care Package, So Far Gone they would be considered classics

Cole, drake and future have 0 classics. Kendrick has 2/3 . Y'all overuse the 'classic' status

People do overuse the classic status but cmon be serious. Take care and nothing was the same are easily classics, so is born sinner and fhd. Fhd literally went platinum with no features and I’m not a big future listener but most consider ds2 and monster classics. Don’t be a kdot Stan bruh lol.

Man, I really wish WTT was a morden classic, I think it would be at the top with TPAB, GKMC and MBDTF Also I wanted to take a hot take about Logic's The Incredible True Story (also sorry I couldn't type the acronym for the title for it because it would be extremely inappropriate especially with the KZbin guidelines, so I gotta keep it kid friendly for KZbin), but um now going back with what I'm commenting about, I believe it is a underrated and overlooked of a modren classic 🤔, and hear me out because it's his most focus and cohesive album I've ever heard and albums I've heard, the songs blend together as a blender very well in it's entirely, plus there are no skips for me on it (not a single one, I could easy play it to front to back), it is important when it first came out (I also wanted to note the first scene in the intro about how important it was going to be for Logic's career), it's also important because it is the first LP he went commercial, then he took off to be little more recognizable (after the release of The Incredible True Story), yes, before Everybody was the one, yes, there wasn't really no radio singles on it, but Like Woah played was everywhere on the NBA commercial, I believe it to be the 2016 one (don't quote me on that), but anyways, he even have the legendary voice actor who played Spike off of Cowboy Bebop on this LP playing a brand new character for crying out loud, imo it's still a classic you could disagree all u want, but don't poke fun of me, pls in the comment selection, keep it nice, you can't forget it's just my opinion 😁
