To check this build out yourself, download RPCS3 and then get the build from here: archive.org/download/nfsr_builds/game_debug%20%2804-02-2014%29.7z 1. Once you've installed RPCS3 somewhere on your PC, extract the build's "FROSTTEST" folder to "dev_hdd0/game/" in your RPCS3 folder. 2. After that's extracted, go into "dev_hdd0/game/FROSTTEST/USRDIR/" and create a new folder named "Scripts". Inside the new folder create a file named "Ps3Game.cfg" and paste the line from this link into it: pastebin.com/8jc42aFT This will guarantee maximum stability and better performance. If you want to load up the other test level, replace the "-level" command with "-level PreProd/Levels/Ronnie_PreProd/Ronnie_PreProd/Ronnie_PreProd". 3. Next, rename "EBOOT.BIN" to "EBOOT.BIN.BAK", as we don't want the emulator trying to start the game from this file (it'll throw an error). After you've done that, make a copy of "Race.Main_Ps3_final.self" and rename it to "EBOOT.BIN". It's very important that you use this exact file; any other self will crash on startup. 4. Start up RPCS3 and if Rivals shows up in your game list, right click it and select "Create Custom Configuration From Default Settings". When the config window opens up, change the settings to the same ones found here: wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?title=Need_for_Speed_Rivals You'll also want to go to the I/O tab and change the Keyboard Handler setting to Basic. This will let you open up the debug menu and command console later. 5. Go back to the RPCS3 directory and open the "patch" folder. Create a new file called "patch.yml" if it doesn't already exist. Then paste the contents of this into that file: pastebin.com/6XKySggz In RPCS3, go to Manage -> Game Patches, and enable the cheat. If it asks to update patches just press no. 6. Now you should be all set, just launch the game and hope for the best. If you want to open the debug menu, press B on the keyboard (might need to do it twice), and if you see a black bar with some text pop up at the top, you can now press P on the keyboard or L3 on the controller to cycle through the different menus. Arrow keys/right stick moves between menu items and tabs, and pressing O + P will open up the command console (press ~ to close it). If you get random freezes when doing things like opening Easydrive or starting races, press circle to unfreeze it (the emulator doesn't show the assert that's supposed to be there). One more note, after the first 30 secs or so after loading the map, the game will lag out for around a minute. Just wait it out and everything after that will run fine.

Honestly, seeing how a game like GTA V manages to fit on the PS3 it's not really impossible for EA to try and push 2015 into late console release. But it sure as hell would be quiet expensive.

I’d hold off on all the speculation, we have hardly any information to go off of besides a couple of test maps that just show that they were already looking for a more urban setting, and that they had _possibly_ already settled on the general LA area as inspiration for the setting. Some of the roads in TestLevel_SantaMonica are just ripped straight from the real life Santa Monica, like the bell shaped residential area in here is a nearly 1:1 copy of Rustic Canyon. There are 7 districts (8 if you count the test track which is set up as its own district) in the map compared to the final game’s 6: 1. Upper Village 2. Lower Village 3. The Valley 4. North City 5. South City 6. The Beach 7. Shady Heights X. AndyDriftChallenge

Atm I only have a PS3 superslim, so I could only try it on HFW which just crashed like the other Rivals builds. I've heard that it could run on a DEX enabled PS3, although they never got into the test levels. You'd have to apply my patch to the self and then use Target Manager to launch it either with the level command or with Ps3Game.cfg containing the level command.

as I have long understood, the whole coolness of NFS is a very good game camera and sound design. physics of cars, and the maps themselves in the game are not particularly valuable

The map in 2015 is so lackluster compared to literally any NFS, it's just 25% of LA, even Olympic City feels bigger due to variety, all i remember in 2015 was just a random hood area, a dockyard, and a touge

This build is so early that everything else is identical to Rivals, so there isn't really anything else to go over unfortunately. The only other "notable" change is that weapons don't work even though they're still in the HUD and debug menu.

You can press circle when that happens and it should unfreeze. There's an assert that's supposed to be there but it doesn't show up in the emulator.

I notice that these cars look like they have a red light reflecting off of them (look at the windows) this is same as when you fall off the map in Rivals, the entire world incuding your car will appear red for a few seconds before returning to normal. I wonder whar kind of strange connection there is.

Dynamic reflections fall back to a solid red texture if they’re disabled (which I did here for performance reasons). When you fall out of the world and the game tries to respawn you, the dynamic reflection entity ends up getting unloaded along with many other visual effects till the “visual environment” (essentially Frostbite’s version of a post process volume that you’d see in Unreal or other engines) is loaded back in.

guess you re not first person to discover here,there is 2 or 3 (if speedyheart already know but lazy post them) persons 1st person discovered long ago (not maxlazy10) upload them to yt but video is shadowbanned but then later the channel gone and terminated in early 2024 (mostly false gta 6 source code or piracy),i can't remember name 2nd person is gz,i saw them these screenshot from nfs 2015 build but no hud and from his dicord server,idk is real or not so carefully doing something in yt 2024,it just keeping worse can ruin your life and they no longer giving any strike to take care for instead terminate whole channel

This is still very much in the realm of B2D, but yeah it was never a secret. The game engine wouldn’t limit what handling styles they could design and program. Considering that this handling model debuted before they switched to Frostbite, plus The Run exists and plays completely different, I don’t know why this idea that the engine was incapable of other handling styles ever took off lol. Not only that but lots of mods (including my own) have been disabling the drift portion of the handling model for years now.

GeneSys is the internal name for Chameleon core engine stuff (and GameChanger was the name of the editor), while Genesis is NFS 2015’s development codename.
