NFS HOT PURSUIT REMASTERED VS ORIGINAL / GRAPHICS COMPARISON

I have never done a comparison video and have no clue what is the proper way to do one but this what I came up with. It's mostly just side by side shots of pc versions and few Xbox 360 shots.
Remaster includes higher-resolution models, more objects and props, longer draw distance, higher resolution shadows, improved videos, upressed UI, higher resolution reflections, boosted textures, more particles, and improved AA/SSAO.

Rofl! I don’t see the difference between these two versions except the Remastered looking SLIGHTLY clearer. Another example of why I now hate the “remaster” term: Spider-Man, released in 2018, was a great game I really enjoyed. Sony and Insomniac Games in 2020: oh let’s capitalize on it for the PS5 launch window and get more MONEY by barely “polishing” the graphics, and changing Peter’s face altogether, that will make people pay full price again for sure! Me: 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’ll go play the PS4 version again. Makes me think, what if The Crew 1’s paid DLC: wild run, which introduced a new multiplayer mode and redid the UI and graphics for real, was called The Crew Remastered?

Literally all they did was kick up the texture resolution on far-away scenery, and delete the cool rain and mist effects. For a proper remaster they'd have to get in there and build more detailed models of the trees and scenery, add more physics and detail to the crashes, improve the rain and mist rather than delete it, etc.

lol it just looks more realistic- deal with it xd The rain doesn't go through your car anymore (in fact, when you are in a forest and it rains, you are most likely to see the fog and have a more darker experience in rain), Anti Aliasing is way better, smoke effects are so called "realistic", the shadowing, reflections and all do a good job at improving and so does the bloom. what the heck people. Oh yea also, the nitro effect looks way better- I mean it's charming that it looks chopped (the tail lights when boosting) but it looks better when it is how it's meant to be. Oh also another thing, car models are improved, landscape got improved

It’s because it would take way too long for them to remaster Underground to begin with. Not only would they have to completely rebuild the game from the ground up, they have to renew all of the licenses for the songs, performance brands, and cars. Not to mention they would also be working with an older game engine, and with older code that they wouldn’t be familiar with. If anything, don’t even touch the originals, but learn from what made them successful.

Yep, the trees look like flat 2D on the "remaster". Not to mention the textures on the tree log in the background look lower quality than the original. The only increase in visual quality I can find in that part of the "remaster" is the reflection resolution being higher. This is not a remaster, it's not even an upgrade in the slightest.

I don't think remastered looks much better but Hot Pursuit 2010 was actually one of the NFS games I enjoyed the most with all the wide roads, good soundtracks, punchy graphics for it's time, that feel of exploring and adventuring through the map, still remember that last race coast to coast where you do through the entire map and all different weather conditions. Cops chases were also good and interesting with all the stuff you can use as emp, spikes and so on, while in others nfs games all you can do is go fast so they lose you or mash cop cars into yours lmao.

Watching this on my mobile, didn't see a difference. Watching it on a big screen 4K TV. I see that the original release on origin 10 years ago looks BETTER. Deeper contrast, sky is dark when it needs to be. Contrast in buildings isn't washed out. The trees actually have leafs instead of mesh in the new one. This isn't an upgrade? This is a downgrade, what the hell Critereon??

Yea in specific conditions old game actually looks better. Other than that remastered have better textures, lightning and trees are actually better. Because it's not just mesh, it's mesh with the leaf textures. It's not a big improvement from graphics wise but im glad this title is back.

lol.. its basically retouched game didnt really do anything to change the look of the game, they probably just increased the texture res and added better ambient occlusion. Also added support for 4k 60fps.. Honeslty though the game looked sick as it was, the only thing was that 1080p felt like 720p upscaled hopefully that is gone and AA has improved other than that idk what else has changed. Oh! and new online service. Honestly not buying not worth it..

That will never happen and you fucking know it. They remastered HP 2010 because the engine that it was built in was readily available by Criterion. To remaster NFS: III Hot Pursuit they would have to get the engine in which it was built [which; a) Is very old and buggy. And b) Is made by completely different developers in a different Era of Technology available at the time]. It's not as simple to just grab an old copy and download all files and make it better and WHABANG! Remaster. They would have to completely rework the engine and graphics from scrath or just remake the game in a completely different engine. To be honest, I'm also tired of people bitching about how they want different things. *NFS HP 2010 gets remastered* Fanboys: Waaaaaaaaaah! We want NFS III Hot Pursuit remastered!!!1! *NFS III Hot Pursuit gets remastered* Fanboys: Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah wah! We want NFS Carbon remastered1!!!1!. It'll keep going like this forever. This is why I hate the NFS and CoD fandom. Everytime the fans want a game to approach in a different direction, they just bitch about it not being good and how they should go back to their roots. Does Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is different from the Remastered version in terms of car handling? I played the original version for quite some time, and I noticed some cars like the Bugatti and the Aston Martin One-77 perform better, but I see a lot of time difference on the track. On the remastered version, I often fall back 15 seconds and more in comparison to my best times from the original version, even when I drive an excellent race.

My problem at the moment is that this game came out 10 years ago and they have barely added any VFX to it. They could do so much more with the HUD, and with effects that appear off of cars (sparks, metal, EMP sparks, Turbo). The rain, however, should be either be a heavy pour or a light one depending on the situation, but in the end I'm cool with either one

Basically on my 4k 55 inch sony XF90 TV I can see the following differences: Tree model changed - OG has better and more detailed tree models BUT it has 2 versions low poly model for distant trees and high poly for near the player and you can easily spot the pop in change from low to high version while remastered has completely redone the tree models where they look much better then the distant low poly trees from OG but slightly worse then high poly model and they don't have low poly model which means the view is "seamless" in a sense that there are no pop ins from the tree details which again is very obvious and kind of eye jarring. Anti aliasing - It is just better on remastered, I suspect they use temporal AA for the remastered and quite simply it looks better. Rain particles effects - they look more tame and and less cluttering compared to the OG, which had too much rain particles unrealistically portrayed that are also clipping to the ground (Note rain is never IRL clearly as obvious as in OG and you can still see easily through the rain even when you drive fast IRL). The effects from the tyres are also much better looking as now the tyres are more realistically spraying the water as tyres aerosols the water unlike OG where it looks like tyres are shooting out water lasers. Since we are also on the matter of particle effects the tyre smoke now has shading to it which also more realistically portrays the tyre smoke. Textures reworked (forest level looks worse on remaster then the OG but that is I guess to have the world look more consistent with less obvious changes to texture quality as the trees have been changed as well so it kind of all fits more neatly compared to OG even though at a still image OG looks better in texture), road looks better but as mentioned there are some sacrifices to make the world more consistent. Under the hood code optimization so that the game can work in 60 FPS with proper frame pacing which was task impossible in OG above 30 FPS as even in OG it had frame pacing issues on 30 FPS. This under the hood code optimization could be a work with the texutre and models as i mentioned before. Reflections - They simply look better and more consistent in remaster. Nothing more needed to say about this. Blooming - This effect has been removed as it looks like shit in OG and is just cluttering the game graphics unecesarily and thus using real light source for better and more consistent world. Note how the blooming effect pops and disappears in the shots where the cars are stopping in OG. Car models - Not sure if they have touched them but they look more consistent now but this could've been due to the other improvements mentioned like improved AA, reflections, etc. Lighting - It appears as though the lighting system got an upgrade as well where the world looks more very well lit. People feel as though "the brightness" has been ramped up but basically the lighting is improved and slightly altered to more evenly iluminate the world both during day and night. So far that's all I noticed. Is this worth 60 euros price tag? No. 30euros? sure 40? not really. Do we need NFS UG1+ UG2 remake? Yes. Do we need NFS MW + Carbon remake? Yes. Will this happen? I have no clue.
