So interesting. The segment of the cows being milked, must have been the farmers family with 3 daughters/wife all with their 1920’s hair styles. It’s a hundred years ago! My grandparents in NSW were starting their families in the 1920’s. My uncle and aunt in Sydney were 94 and 96 and lived a wonderful life and unfortunately died in the last 2 years . Must have been the great NSW butter they ate that gave them a long life!!

What a terrific look back when times were so different to today’s wham bam working conditions. I’m sure everyone of those people in the industry were very proud of the work they did. Gotta love salted butter 🧈!

Absolutely fascinating! Thanks so much for posting. I’ve lived and worked on a dairy farm for my entire life, and I can assure that things have changed a lot.

It is still around. It is a dairy cooperative. And yes, it is located in Lismore.

This is so very interesting. I still buy Norco products to this day. Life seemed so much easier in those days. I notice that many of the cows were very interested in the cameraman, looking at the camera as they passed by ..... very inquisitive.

My back aches, the macinery drive-belt ripped off my pinky, and the boss told me to wear a clean white cap to protect the butter from my falling hairline. And that was my first day on the job.

I never made it through the front door. Someone spilt some butter and I slipped on it and cracked my scone. I dropped my scone I brought with me for lunch too when I slipped on the butter.

Lived in Australia my whole life, 66 years, and I can remember Norco through all of my life, and now I even live in Norco territory which is the mid to north coast of NSW and boy do we get the best full cream non homogenised milk!

And the really good quality butter still gets exported and you can't buy it (easily at least) in Australia as a retail customer. Best butter I've ever bought was a 5kg block in Beijing which was from Victoria. I went to an excellent French restaurant in Balnarring which had amazing Aussie butter but of course hospitality businesses can access products retail can't.

When I was a kid in the 60's the corner shop had a big block of butter in the ice chest and they would cut off a pound or half pound and wrap it in paper for you.
