This process in learning is very sacred and painful mate. Trust me. It will break all your mental physical and spiritual barriers. If you do... Good luck.

@spacestick1 Actually the Native Americans were conquered. Slavery to Europeans and Arabs was a big thing and the Colonials taking their land by force.

The Maori people believed that combat was sacred to their ancestors and they fought to acquire mana spiritual power and prestige. Cannibalism was fueled by the desire to gain the mana of a foe defeated in battle. Unlike most native cultures, the Maori were never conquered.

Maori were Never Conquered, They are one of the strongest cultures, still thriving today. So you sir, should actually visit New Zealand and learn about the culture and history before you go throwing stupid words out of your mouth you don't even know is true, you wont find the stories of wars with the British in a book, your not going to find a demo book about taiaha you actually need to learn it from your Marae, Tribe, Parents and through your genealogy there buddy.

The weapons Vikings used did rust. Vikings were also on averaged height at 5'3-5'6. They were brutish, no real leadership, they dominated other Barbaric communities, but failed to fight the Romans. Maori traveled the world for years before settling down, so yes, they would've been stoneage as soon as they settled. Its recorded that Maori compared to other indigenous peoples and Tribal communities were far more advanced. The materials they had were stoneage, but how they used them were advanced

im from nz, and the maori signed a treaty just like many native american tribes,. not all native americans were conquered because many tribes realized the white people would never stop encroaching on their lands and so signed agreements to have protected reservations where they could live in peace. some tribes were wiped out such as the mohicans .but many tribes still survive today on their own reservations. if you consider native americans to have been conquered than so were the maori(:

Well this is an old post, But I'll correct some history here... 1) Many Maori didn't sign that treaty 2) The treaty was a failure as the British weren't following what the Maori version said 3) That led to conflict only a few years later with Maori rebellions after being sick of what they saw as trickery 4) years later, The NZ government wanted Te Rauparaha's land but he wouldn't sell, so they used militia and took it by force, starting the Land wars. So in all honesty, The treaty was a passing idea that was never honoured, hence why it isn't counted as a legal document nowadays.

@spacestick1 lmfao but they weren't. They all signed the peace treaty and became citizens with the British. The Native Americans lost all of their land, were enslaved and only a few made a peace treaty with the British and Colonials. Hell, most American tribes were wiped out into extinction.
@samos343guiltyspark
@samos343guiltyspark 6 жыл бұрын
Let's not forget that the peace treaty was never upheld because it wasn't accurately translated to begin with. And many wars followed because of it.

@johnhar271 I'll teach you somthing bro have you ever been to Kilmuir on the island of Skye in Scotland, was the place of the vikings last stand. Ever heard the term going Berserk? Comes from the hallucinogenic barserk mushroom the vikings took before battle make them uncontrollable while sometimes charging into battle naked...hence the saying "going berserk". Your ancestry my friend were a bunch of crack heads...mean while the maori traditions live on, and the taiaha never forgotten

generic name My great grandfather Was a Sorensen from Copenhagen, my otjer great grandfather is Rangatira Maori from Aotearoa. Viking culture has unfortunately vanished, and Maori culture still thrives. I belong to the school of Te whare tu taua. The art of Combat is still being taught today. Steel weapons have no place in our combat, but a steel heart is essential. The playing field is even when we fight. Its about the fight in the person not the strength of the material and getting used to the spirit of fighting and being in the realm of Tumatauenga.Our taiaha are hard as rock made from the hadest woods available from Tane Mahuta the guardian of our forrests, brutal when on the recieving end. Its not a competition between races, especially as i have ancestors on both sides, but there is a beauty in Maori cuture that i know and love and am proud to be part of. Nau mai haere mai, come see for yourself. Are there schools in your country you can go to and learn the fighting ways of the Viking and what do you call them?.
