I have an alt AZ f/17 refractor, but I want to start moving up into the intermidiate scopes. I'm thinking of buying the omni XLT 150 cg4 telescope + motor drive. Do you think that would be a good decision?

Hi there, if you're interested in doing astrophotography the cg4 mount won't be sufficient. You need a mount like the heq5 (not vx or ioptron 28) that holds higher payloads for stable guiding. I know they sell it as a package but is more suitable for visual. I believe high point still sells just the OTA or you can always find it used in Cloudy Nights. I hope this helps. Good luck!
