PLEASE NOTE: We have received several comments in regards to the multi-air filter having dirt from my glove on it prior to installing it into the engine. When filming the video, I did see that there was dirt from my glove that had got on the multi-air filter. However, right before installing the new multi-air filter into the engine, you will notice I wipe the dirt off on the red rag at 12:05. Thanks for watching!

Done. Two things for the mechanically challenged, like myself. Be careful removing the filter. The o-ring on mine lost elasticity and came loose in the hole. I had to fish it out with a pick. Also, be careful when wrestling the timing belt cover during removal and -re-install. The tab that holds the bottom screw breaks off easily. Trust me. Now to find a new cover. Took me a while, but I was eventually successful. Thanks Brian.

Great video Brian, thanks for posting this up. I and some others have been able to change the Multiair filter without removal of the mount. A ratchet wrench and 10mm stubby bit can fit behind the mount in some cases allowing access and removal of the filter.

Appreciate the tip. When we do these videos, we try and provide the way that will be the easiest for the “DIY’er”. There is no doubt that I believe you can access it without removal of the mount but considering it only takes an extra 5-10 minutes to remove the mount, we felt this was the best way to present it. There is so much more room to work with the mount out of the way. Again, appreciate the tip and I’m sure there will be some that will follow the route you suggested. Thanks for watching!

They are not low cost but a bypass oil filter would make a lot of sense. They take 5% to 10% of the oil flow but filter to 1 micron. Standard full flow filters are 25 micron.

If you find out anything about these engines, its that they love to drink oil. Any turbo car will start to do so at some point in its life. Get comfortable with checking your oil every time you fill up, or every other time you hit the station if you drive easy.

Hey, Brian. I recently bought a 2012 Fiat 500 (95,000 miles; 5 speed manual) that turns out to have an low oil pressure issue. Typically I get a pressure warning only once the engine is good and warm and I am gearing down to a stop. In spite of the warnings, the engine seems to still run fine. I've had a mechanic verify that engine pressure is, in fact, low; which seems to rule out a sensor issue. None of several mechanics (incl. a Fiat dealer) has been able to solve the issue. Do you think it could be caused by a dirty multiair actuator supply filter? None of the mechanics has raised this as a possibility. Possibly because they don't even know about the filter's existence!? I'd hugely appreciate any info or guidance you might have to offer! Thanks.

@@NGENCustomsandPerformance There's a hose bracket that comes off the front by way of three 10mm screws, plus the plastic tube on top of said bracket that is held by a 10mm screw. A hose running from the coolant overflow tank also is on this bracket, but held in place by a rachet clip.. The upper timing belt cover is held in place by a captive screw on top, and a 10mm screw on the bottom right. I forgot about the one on the right, and cracked the opening in the process :-(. You don't need to unbolt the wastegate solenoid, for which I lost a washer.
