But look at the physical defense between the two one shorter the prong on top is thinner 40k isn't going to change that fact

Nng = popularity. They last long, and they are ok, but if performance is what you're looking for, then Denso is the choice.

I went from motorcraft platinum - ngk iridium - denso power. In my 12 Mustang Without a doubt in terms of performance both blow away motorcraft platinum. Ngk will last longer , the denso power are the best interns of pure performance. One thing I want to clear up about your video, ngk has more material but more material allows the spark pattern to more around, where typically you want the spark pattern to stay put no arcing, Like I said ngk for long lasting- denso for performance. Great video

Of course they have different length. Those plugs are *NOT* interchangeable. And plugs off ebay / amazon are counterfeit anyway.

Nice comparison. I've always used NGK in Honda's with 100% success so far, but Denso is a solid choice too and many Honda's allow for the use of either and provide part numbers for both in the manual. I'd stick to the recommended gap though. Using a larger than recommended gap is certainly possible, but will stress the ignition coils unnecessarily and can kill them prematurely by forcing them to create a higher voltage than they were designed to. I have never seen anyone gain significant power just from using a larger gap either, Richard Holdener did a cool test on that.

The spark plug that enters the combustion chamber has strict factory measurement depending on the engine that every spark plug manufacture has to adhere to. If the electro sticks out into the combustion chamber as you are stating that the denso spark plug does, then that would mean you have the wrong size plug which ultimately cause major engine damage. Scientifically, you would have to stringently test if the electro is better higher or lower or if a bigger or smaller thin electrode in the combustion chamber is better. FYI. Denso claims its new technology that went into the tt iridium is a new breakthrough with the smaller electrode. Bigger doesn't always mean better. In this case bigger spark within a bigger space to complete combustion is better due to the smaller electrode which made this possible.

You’re right about that if both those plugs were specked for that engine, then they will be exactly the same physical size, one of those ain’t meant for that engine

And if you read about it, the end of the spark plug should not protrude or be recessed it should be flush with the combustion chamber

Hi Sir I have a 1996 Toyota Hilux Surf 3.4v6 5vzfe engine & when my son owned it at 117 ,000 Kilometers & when reached 119,000 Kilometers I put in set of NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS & when I brought the 1996 Toyota Hilux Surf 3.4v6 5vzfe engine it had done around 138,000 Kilometers & about 3 years done the track I took the NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS out & looked & the plugs & gave them a wipe with a clean rag & screwed back in again & these NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS were only nipped up tight & that's all & then & I took the NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS out again around 150,000 Kilometers & looked at the NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS & I gave these NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS another wipe with a clean rag & this time I put on some PBC Copper coat on the threads of the NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS & screwed them back in again & haven't been out since then & these NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS are still in the 1996 Toyota Hilux Surf 3.4v6 5vzfe engine & the 3.4 V6 engine still running with those NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS & now the the 1996 Toyota Hilux Surf 3.4v6 5vzfe engine has done 258,509 Kilometers & the 3.4 V6 still PERFORMS REALLY WELL & KEEPS UP WITH THE MODEN VEHICLES & a I BLOW AWAY THE 3.2 TURBO CHARGED DIESEL FORD RANGERS & I HAVE UP SET A LOT OF THESE GUYS THAT DTIVE THESE FORD RANGERS & NOT HAPPY AT ALL & THIS 3.4V6 5VZFE IS ONLY A STANDARD MOTOR & EVEN I BLOW AWAY THE TOYOTA 2.800 TURBO DIESEL HILUX SR5 UTES & EVEN THE & NISSAN UTES ISUZU UTES AS WELL & I have even taken on the 3.6 V6 Holden Commode & blew one about 4 years ago & that guy reallly tried hardest to beat me & I hadn't even had my accelerator no where near the floor & all you could hear was the Holden Commodore 3.6 V screaming & that guy was so pissed off it wasnt funny & just imagine if the 1996 Toyota Hilux Surf 3.4v6 5vzfe engine was SUPERCHARGED OR TURBOCHARGED & what that would go like & quite a few years ago I blew away a 4 liter FORD FALCON & HE COULDN'T PASS ME but the TURBO CHARGED FORD FALCONS THEY WERE QUICK & ONE LEFT ME ABOUT 4 TO 5 CAR LENGTHS BUT IF MINE WAS TWIN TURBOCHARGED I WOULD HAVE LEFT FOR DEAD THESE 3.4 V6S PERFORM REALLY WELL & the mileage it's got now the 3.4 V6 engine doesn't even miss a beat with these NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS & apparently these Toyota 3.4v6 5vzfe engine surpose to have SPARK PLUGS WITH DOUBLE EARTH SPARK PLUGS THESE NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS HAVE SINGLE EARTH & STILL WORKS THESE NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS ARE REALLY VERY GREAT PLUGS & I'M REALLY SURE THAT DENSO IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS NOT DO THE MILEAGE WHAT THESE NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS ARE REALLY DOING & HONESTLY I HAVE NOT CHANGED THESE SPARK PLUGS & HAVE BE IN THE SAME TOYOTA 3.4V6 5VZFE ENGINE SINCE 119,000 KILOMETERS & NOW THIS 1996 TOYOTA HILUX SURF 3.4V6 5VZFE ENGINE JAS NOW DONE 258,509 Kilometers & THESE NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS ARE STILL RUNNING STRONG & THE GUY KARL AT PARTSMASTER NEW ZEALAND SAID THAT I WILL GET WELL OVER A 100,000 KILOMETERS WITH THESE NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS & I'VE DONE WELL OVER A 100,000 KILOMETERS WITH THESE NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS & I KEEP THE SERVICE UP MYSELF WITH OIL & FILTER CHANGERS & I GET 6 LITRES OF OIL OUT OF THE 3.4V6 5VZFE ENGINE & PUT BACK IN 6 LITRES OF NEW OIL BACK IN THE 3.4V6 ENGINE WITH MY OWN WAY OF GETTING ALL THE OIL OUT OF MY TOYOTA 3.4V6 5VZFE ENGINE & I'M USING 15W-40 ROYAL ENGINE OIL & SOMETIMES NOW & THEN I WOULD USE MOREYS ENGINE STABILIZER & I have not long changed my front Brake Disc Rotors & Disc Pads but all I can say the NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS ARE REALLY BRILLIANT SPARK PLUGS & LITTLE WHILE LATER I WILL TAKE THE NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS OUT & CHECK THEM AGAIN BUT AT THE TIME BEING THEY ARE WORKING REALLY GREAT & IN COLD MORNINGS IT STARTS FIRST POP & LET THE ENGINE WARM UP A BIT BEFORE DRIVING THE 1996 TOYOTA HILUX SURF 3.4V6 5VZFE ENGINE Kind Regards Peter NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS ARE NO 1 IN MY BOOKSj

J CARL This is a consideration about the shorter plug version. I used a shorter plug in length in a 2.5 liter 2016 Ford Fusion GDI this definitely was better like night and day, especially when adding the K & N air filter. Instant Intake response and Gas mileage. I think with GDI the spark with shorter plug burned more of the carbon build up. Car ran like new and the Smokie Mountains were no challenge while on vacation

I have no doubt that NGK's are one of the best spark plugs but in order for your vehicle to perform the best, you must use the equipment that the manufacturer designed your vehicle to use.

The little angle on the ground electrode looks like erosion. It was probably straight with more defined corners originally, but has worn down over time, that is a very common erosion/wear pattern for spark plugs. Platinum plugs often have a little dot of platinum on the ground electrode to slow this erosion, and your NGK plugs do have that little platinum spot, which is raised slightly so it is the closest point to the center electrode and the spark will favor that spot. The little recess on the end where the plug wire connects is because there is a threaded post on that plug so it can work in other applications with different style plug wires. There is a little bushing screwed on that post that can be unscrewed and removed. Shouldn’t affect performance one way or another.

The denso u are running are for modded engines that why u may not of liked them, where as the ngks you have are meant for stock motors. Thats why they look different and feel different

First thing you should’ve done was test the electrical resistance to see if the plugs are original. A lot of fake Chinese crap out there, and the Denso ones sure look like it

When you take the old spark plugs it is good to match up to the new ones to make sure the length seems the same. Also check the owners manual for which spark plugs to get and if it's and if it is an upgrade from copper spark plugs check the iridium, platinum, or other upgrade with recommended spark plugs lugs to insure proper sized threads and overall lengths of the spark plugs compared to stock recommended spark plugs.

I have a 2007 E550 with 150k miles and stock plugs still inside I think. I was wondering What would be better choice. Denso iridium power 5353 ixuh 22 plugs or ngk 5353 iridium ix plugs?

My 06 pilot owners manual lists NGK and Denso part numbers as plug can use. I prefer the NGK never had a problem with them it's what Honda uses.
