I want to run through a scenario, where the Strategic Homeland Division doesn’t exist.
What I’m wanting to see, is how much has the Division actually managed to achieve in curving the outcome of the events that have played out.
Understandably the story is still running its path, so in this alternate timeline we’re going to put a line in the sand, and see how different things could be, up until this point in the story.

My perspective is that the Agents represent hope. As crazy as it sounds. A well grounded Agent doesn't see settlements. An Agent sees families and good folks that are vital to the preservation of who we are as humanity. Society, forget it. Remember now, "extrimis malis, extrimis remidia". There has to be good people willing to do awful things to help the rest that are good but can't be bad for their own good.

Considering the contribution or damage from agents as part of the whole SHD program. And according to observations in the game, the program failed Especially due to the fact that the immediate superiors of Homeland Security are involved in the redistribution of spheres of influence and power. If you answer the question - the situation would be better with the agents of the Division or not. If not for the agents of the Division: - The investigation into the causes of the incident with Black Friday and Green Flu was delayed or remained undisclosed at all; - Assistance or rescue of key UTC personnel on the ground, which contributed to the preservation of the organization and support to civilians; - SHD technologies fall into the wrong hands; - Emergence of bio-terror cell agents. If there were no agents of the Division: - Black tusks and standing faces behind the redistribution of power would watch while the factions destroy each other, and either destroyed the weakened remnants or made an agreement with the strong; - It could also start a full-scale civil war. To be honest, ever since the coms from the renegade agent in the Underground DLC, I've been haunted by the thought that we, as agents of the Division, were nothing more than a liquidation force. We weren't trying to form an alliance or get the other factions to work together to restore the situation and a better future. Yes, there are hints of this now and behind the scenes there are swindlers from these factions. But the fact remains that we only destroy at least someone who posed some kind of threat.

I agree, in the aspect that I think the Divisions biggest contribution is the support and protective of the innocent civilian lives. I think the US, without the Division, would be much more toxic military controlled especially around bigger locations where the infrastructure was. In the more rural areas... You'd see a much more hostile environment - much like the development of communities in the walking Dead were.... Think wild wild west towns but on a more toxic and deadly level.

Good video, theory-crafting at its finest. While i do believe thing drastically would have changed, maybe the LMB gets folded into the Black Tusk per some interesting stuff in both the convention center and the grand Washington hotel pointing to that. Def not having the rogue agents around would have been a biggie, but those people would have sprung up in other factions. The interesting question would be where does your character fit in all of this? Would they join someone like the True Sons, LMB or Black Tusk?

The Division has definitely made a difference and touched a lot of lives. People are alive and surviving because of us. Looking at my point of view as a Veteran, a lot of us would have banded together "for God and Country" to take down all enemies, foreign AND DOMESTIC. Hoooorraaah!

I've always thought that the division is what happens if the teams from events of the rainbow six book where never formed or failed. instead of rainbow being the proactive response, the division was developed as a REactive response.

See, this sort of stuff is the reason I keep playing - even in the rough periods. There's a depth to this world that really draws me in!! If you look at the impact the player agent has on their own then - extrapolate that progress across the full range of the second wave and you have a HUGE impact. We all make a difference. There is the chance, but with the original leaders still alive, with their own plans, I think the outcome would be much different. Anderson would just be in the background at this point.

I would love to explore how the hunters would evolve in this situation, even though we don't know much about them. There's still a chance their creation was directly related to the Division, which would leave a lot of arguement about what would happen in their case, but it would still be pretty cool. There's also the situation with the Theater settlement. It's unlikely that Odessa Sawyer would still be the leader if she wasn't in the Division, as she's only leading them because she can't be active anymore. Even though she has a strong spirit, I still believe that her lack of training would get her killed, and her spirit might've even been a detriment. Without her, someone else would have to take up leadership, but who would be the best canditate? Or would the Theater just fall apart without her to train the civilians with firearms? The Theater would likely be a very different place without her, and without the Division.

Most likely not. The Hunters seemed to have been formed specifically to target Division Agents. No Agents, no Hunters.

New York: LMB dominate, in fact they would stomp. They have far too much military experitse, logistics and air support, a no-nonsense attitude and a technological advantage which none of the others can deal with. The LMB also had plenty of numbers to deal with the situation. What's left of the cleaners are roped in to be an arm of the LMB as they have something valuable to offer in a certain sense. Their survivors would accept terms from LMB given their huge advantage over them. Rikers and Rioters would be made short work of. Especially with the LMB's shoot to kill policy with any non compliant people - everyone non LMB is treated as a hostile by default. JTF has too many problems and hostile factions and whoever is left of them probably joins the LMB also if they have something valuable to add. Washington DC: Black Tusk stomp. Their only real problem is the True Sons and what's left of them will merge into the Black Tusk upon defeat due to the Black Tusks superior military training and superior technological and logistical advantages. Black Tusk also have a no nonsense shoot to kill policy by default. Hyenas and Outcasts are made quick work of. JTF, the same outcome as NYC. Future picture: LMB and Black Tusk get wind of one another. Both begin to conduct reconnaissance ops but both are eventually detected by either side and skirmishes begin. Both sides report back on one another as a highly professional and well equipped adversary. Communication for negotiation gets established. But neither trusts the other, especially the LMB given that the Black Tusk has foreign investors and interests taking part in what is essentially a campaign of domination in what's left of the USA. Lt Col. Charles Bliss is warey of the Black Tusk...but the Black Tusk also has the Hunters behind the scenes and Charles, along with other high profile LMB commanders are marked men in case they ever decide to undercut and betray the Black Tusk. They stay with an wobbly truce but once what's done is done, Black Tusk betray the LMB and try to decapitate the LMB leadership using the Hunters. Bliss has thought this day would come and is prepared and survives and then the next big civil war kicks off in the USA again, or the Hunters succeed and what's left of the LMB is merged into the Black Tusk (like the White Tusk scenario) and the Black Tusk carries on. In answer to NGN's question about the Divisions role. Hmm, the Division have essentially been an extended arm of the police in reality. We spend our time as agents doing the work of inspectors and street cops fighting gangsters from the street level right up to the big mafia types at the top who control the people at street level, trying to keep some semblance of the way things were in the hope that there's something left of humanity that remembers what checks and balances actually look like in a civilised society and to hold onto that because we can outlast those who want to burn it all down and remake it in a foreign image. For us as Division agents, we have more to think about as it's not just a matter of survival and then siding with the winner when one emerges. But we are actively trying to push back the reality of a collapsed world and have a lot more to think about on our shoulders. Ultimately, the outcome is a total loss unless we can educate, train and arm those we save and build community networks with to try and rebuild stable society again. With our persecutors and destroyers being easily identified (Black Tusk), its an all out civil war until the last man and woman. The Division has no other legitimate choice but for continue on in this, so training and equipping people is the right thing to do because the agents know they won't be around forever, they will eventually die and someone has to take their place. The illegitimate alternative is agents abandon the mission altogether and go totally rural to try and survive but will always have to look over their shoulders. Or they abandon their mission and join the Black Tusk like so many others. Its bleak all around no matter what way you look at it.

My take on the hostile factions Rikers might not be a faction, since Drugov played a key role in their escape (pun intended) by releasing their leader and handing her the key to free the other prisoners. Without Drugov the plan to simply starve the prisoners could have worked, presumably with LMB or JTF being sent to reinforce them instead of Drugov. If an escape happened it would have taken longer and could have been a drawn out affair, depending on the timing it's possible they wouldn't have been able to get their hands on a barge since the staff would have already evacuated. Without the Rikers the JTF wouldn't have had to deal with 10-20 thousand armed prisoners hunting them down, freeing them up to fight other factions, putting them in a better position. LMB wouldn't have had the support of Keener and the Rogue agents, meaning they wouldn't have had the tech or intelligence advantage mentioned in the audio logs. This would have weakened them as a faction, leading to higher casualties and a lesser influence in the city. Ironically, this weakness coupled with a stronger JTF could open up the possibility of an alliance as they both have the goal of restoring order to the city. This probably wouldn't have happened though. Cleaners are the only faction I see purely benefiting from this. The Division were only a detriment to the faction save for one rogue agent, without Division interference they would continue to operate largely unchecked. If you believe my other takes on the factions they might have faced stiff resistance against a stronger JTF who might form an alliance with the LMB, otherwise the Cleaners would have kept operating as we see in the game. As for the Div 2 factions, it sounds about right.

An alternate timeline I wanna see is the aftermath of the Liberty Island mission where we failed to destroy Keener’s warhead since when you fail at that specific scene, the warhead actually launched and Keener celebrates it before a game over screen pops up. Or maybe the player agent could join Keener and turning the tide for the worst. See how long the Peacekeepers and the DC Settlements would last.

Without the division, I think the majority of the responsibility to protect civilians will be shifted to various militia that would form during the chaos This is because of the 2nd amendment and the widespread belief in America that gun owners is the militia that has the duty to protect the innocent. This results in a better trained populace against societal collapse. Some militias may be like the true sons and become a warlord that oppresses their population, while others may truly fulfill their duty to protect them. The latter group may develop a stronger sense of self-reliance and further distrust of government. The rise of civilian militias has several major consequences: 1. The popular opinion on Black Tusk and LMB will be more divided. Those under the control of oppressive warlords will see Black Tusk as liberators, while the less oppreessive militias may see Black Tusk as an extension of the government, or even see the outbreak itself as a "plandemic" for them to take over. 2. The outcasts may adopt less terrorist tactics and become an ally with a civilian militia since they will have more sympathizers. 3. True Sons may gain more legitimacy since they are not actively fighting against the remnants of US government anymore.

Division still remains a classic. I still enjoy the Incusions and Legendarys that this game offers to this day. With good gear and a Super Solid build.. you just shred . Division 2 is so watered down to the point of numbing game play. Everyone's so preoccupied with raising their SHD levels to extravagant numbers yet.. they can't survive a a Legendary 5 minutes in. But hey, they have all the God Roll gear and the 10K SHD score. All show.. No substance.

Keener wouldn't have his presence because he used division tech and knowledge/position to get the power, manpower and resources that his legacy haunts everyone with to this present day. Major factions wouldn't be on the backfoot and could prioritize eachother and control vs having to set defensive positions which slow down supply lines. Things like hunters will be doing a different job and we all know it isn't going to be janitor duty. The black tusk would likely take over several states (people forget their a country wide threat) The black tusk would get the cure to the dollar flu and keep it without stalling or resistance which to quote Schaffer. "Who wouldn't sell their soul for a miracle cure?" Which would definitely put them on better terms with the cleaners and possibly allies. LMB are likely to still join black tusk sense it's what they already did in the normal story forming the operators aswell as their views are similar. President Ellis will still be around which gave the blacktusk legitimacy and was the main reason they had a secret serviceman kill the original president to replace him so the population would support them. And so much more.
