NH 316 baler repair part 1: hay feeder fork fail

Thanks for the update Pete. I wish we had some of your rain here in South Central Ky we had no rain in the month of October except for Halloween and we got 4 tenths of an inch. The weather is talking like we could get some the next couple of days. Take care and stay safe will be looking forward to the repair video.

My experience has been that the small square baler, if it's gonna break, always does so on the last day of baling for the year. Uncanny! Thanks for posting. I enjoyed it.

Man yeah , looks like you sure are getting after the repairs!! Can't beat the carport for shelter, I know the feeling on the tools too!! Hopefully the block comes in soon!! Look fwd to seeing whats in the building for a project 🤔😉 The "while I'm after it's " 😉😉😁😁👌🏻👌🏻🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

That’s a great baler. I’ve read that some take out that rod that is centers between the feeder forks. Evidently the forks can jump it - not sure how that happens, but when it does, the ensuing crash is a big mess. Excellent video…👍

Thanks! Got to keep the old girl going for a few more years. I know some folks don't care for this feeder set up, but this is the first problem I've had with it in 20 years.

Nice affordable shelter with that carport. Nice repair on the 316. I had to change bill hooks on my JD336 when we switched to plastic twine and never regretted…no more mouse chewed broken bales!

Thanks! I'm happy with the plastic so far. Sissel seems to have gotten inconsistent.

G day Pete Back in middle 0's early 80 we had a Mennonite neighbour sell twine, baler & binder .sisal well dealer for plastic came & adjusted it for free to use there twine it worked on one side but not on other, so we use sisal & plastic. Did not know there was difference Good luck Ths

Did a very similar repair on my 316 2 years ago. I also had to replace both tracks. Lots of waiting for parts. I think some parts were 6 months wait.

Fingers crossed it comes in soon. I thought it might be a good idea not to wait until spring.
