Hey brother, great job on the video. Thanks for posting it. I have a New Holland 4630 that was leaking from the same place as yours. Just finished taking the shaft out and about to clean everything good and put all the new seals in and get her back together again. The two things I learned that helped a lot was tapping the threaded in further into the cylinder to be able to access the retaining ring and the heads-up about where that extra o-ring went. That had me scratching my head until I saw your video. Take care and God Bless you. Rick

Your 3930 NH video saved the day for me. One thing that I tried was to use a hair dryer/blower to warm-up all the seals, especially the blue one that went inside. Made it soft enough to easily install.

Wow Jay, I think you did an awesome job taking that hyd cylinder apart and putting it back together. I am glad the dealer had the parts. Nice video, Pete

Thanks for the video... Just did my New Holland TT60a. Same cylinder as your tractor. Wish I was talented enough to make videos. I tried once with a bbq one. I gave up. My wife will be happy she can go back to bush hogging till she tears up something else. Haha 😂

Good work! A little time and common sense sure saves alot of money!!

Thanks, this was only the 2nd cylinder I've had to rebuild. The first was the Kuhn mower lift cylinder. Sounds like a good deal on the JD shaft. I know parts are expensive!

Just subbed your channel and hit that thumbs up too. One question, did you replace the little copper washers that go on the lines when you hooked them back up?
@farmboy30117 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the sub! To be honest, it was so long ago that I can't remember. I usually will change copper washers if I have some because they're designed to crush seal. I have had some luck reusing them too.

Thanks for you video! It helped me a great bunch! I was able to disassembly my cylinder with any problems but, I checked the shaft and found it to be slightly bent! It appears t have an approximately 0.120 to 0.125 bend. The shaft feels to side trough the seals fine. Should I rebuild the cylinder with that slightly bent shaft ?
@farmboy301172 жыл бұрын
If it was mine, I would try to rebuild it. If it fails, then replace it.

How do you drive the threaded part down to get out the retention clip?

Great video - I have a New Holland 3415 with a leaking power steering cylinder. How or what kind of tool did you use to get that end cap off with? My re-build kit will be here in a few days. Thanks!
@farmboy301177 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I really don't recall what I used, but I don't remember it being overly difficult, except getting the inner seal in it.
@teamlaststall43107 жыл бұрын
farmboy30117 Update - today I re-built the cylinder. Thanks to your video I had zero, yes zero problems with the o-rings and seal change. With that hard plastic inner seal, I let it soak in some hot water before I installed it. Pinched it in half and it went right in. Once again, thanks!

That's great! Glad it helped :)

Hey Farmboy great video. I have a 3010S and I had the same problem but I took mine off and sent it in and had it fixed for 120 bucks. After seeing your video, next time I will try it myself. Thanks BUD.

Thanks Roy! It's not too hard except bending the inner seal to get it to fit in the hole.

Thanks for the tip. I have also used a cream hand degreaser on pants and that seemed to work. It's an old shirt so no biggie.

I have a 3930 made april 1998 with the same issue, you mentioned the “”earlier model had a different cylinder””. What year is yours, and what year would be an “”earlier model””. Thanks
@farmboy301173 жыл бұрын
Ours is a 94 model I believe. I can't remember exactly but it seems the part number was different. You should be able to get it from a New Holland dealer.

Do you know the part number for the seals for the power steering?
@farmboy301172 жыл бұрын
You can call your local New Holland dealer (or Messick's online) but you'll need your tractor serial number to get the correct part.
@jerrylambert87944 жыл бұрын
Did you have to bleed any of the components ? .
@farmboy301174 жыл бұрын
no, just turn your steering wheel from left stop to right stop a few times, should get all the air out. then check the fluid level.

farmboy30117 I got the parts kit but when I installed the blue internal seal it doesn't fit snug on the shaft. it leaks worse than before. Was there any specific direction that the seal was installed. I see a groove on top of one side. I put the ringed top section facing outward towards the scraper. The supply company is sending me another kit to try another blue seal, we'll see. by the way I figured out a way to install that seal in a few minutes
@farmboy3011710 жыл бұрын
I really don't remember which way it's supposed to go. Hopefully, the next kit will work for you.

Good job on cylinder I know all about leaking cylinders seems like all my equipment that has a hyd. cylinder leaks some. I fixed my worst leak other day on my john deere, the load control shaft and bushings I priced the shaft at jd dealer 350 dollars I said hell no its little over 19'' long less than a inch in dia. found one on ebay for 150 that's high but best I could do, people with older jds know what I'm talking about bad design.

Aw, that's not good! Have you tried Yesterday's Tractor? They might be able to find a used one, or Messick's? They have an online parts catalog.
