always take your time coming up on a buck, what I find is that the ear flickers before seeing anything else then when you see that put in an extra arrow unless it's dark out. That or leave him and come back in a few hours later or even the next day idc if I have to sit there for another 8 hr's in the dark I'll come back. and or listen to make sure the coyotes are not in the area. reason why I only go for a double lung shot vs a shoulder heart shot. people don't realize how strong that shoulder blade is.

I don't get it. Warden can dispatch a deer on the side of the road but he couldn't stop that deer in the woods from suffering

Yes, unfortunately due to the location of the deer, and the warden asking his supervisor, they could not.
