I finished this anime almost a month ago, and as someone with chronic depression and social anxiety I saw so much of myself in it. I’m still trying to process finishing it since it offered a great catharsis. Both versions of the opening sound so perfectly melancholic and I can’t stop listening

Basically, this version has more bass and no trumpet. You'd think that this would be a minor change, but the song feels starkly different and less optimistic when compared to the other version.

When I stumbled upon this anime when I was still in high school, I prefered the opening with the trumpets. Now that I am older, I much prefer this version. Even the opening hits you in the feels, it starts of lively with the trumpets and as you continue on the show, the opening changes, replacing the lively trumpets with a soft guitar and piano beats. Just like how our life starts lively and we become more serious as we grow up. Just the opening alone tells you a lot about life.

man i wish the anime actually took a much more darker unlikable turn personality-wise for Mizaki and tone-wise for the show when this intro played. 1st half is all nice and colorful and 2nd half goes all Satoshi-Kon story telling at full blast where Satou is forced by guilt to help Mizaki. there had to be something fishy about a quiet high school girl spying on a Hikimori, making him food everyday and trying to psychologically "help" him. gives me chills and Higurashi vibes. You don't need a Mizaki around because that's basically asking for the randomness of life to take the reigns and guide you where it leads. That is how a conman gets ya. take control of your life, seize the day, work at a mcdonalds if you have to.
