Just a tip, in my own franchise mode I put sergachev and pietrangelo on the top pairing for d and sergachev grew to a 89 in the first year and pietrangelo went to a 92. They also get a plus 3 so their overalls are even better.

To maximize line chem, you need to have a Playmaker, Power forward, and a sniper on that particular line (doesn't matter the position), playing on the line they prefer most. You can check that by clicking right stick in and clicking right bumper until you see their line preferences. And for defence, to get the +5 you need one offensive d man and one defensive d man.

For chemistry, the best way to get a +5 is to have PWF, PLY, SNP together. Flip Giordano & Stall for prospects or picks. I think you should look at getting either Jake Virtanan or Keifer Bellows. Both are PWF’s who play REALLY well in the franchise modes. Another player who does well in franchise is J.G. pageau for some reason. As soon as you get anybody who’s on a 1-year deal that you want to keep longer, go to contracts and try and sign them right away. If you do this at the beginning of a season, you’ll save yourself a lot of money in the long run.
