When I make trades, I don't understand what type of offensive strategy the player likes, so it causes some kind of problem. I am not sure how to get all of the players to get along at all.

So on the top 2 lines for forwards, You're going to want either a PLY-SNP-PWF or PLY-SNP-TWF player type combo. If all the players have xfactor contributors and decent line fit then you will have high chemistry. Chemistry is more likely to work if all players have xfactors and the same goes for defenseman. OFD-DFD is still the best defensive combo but you can use TWD's this year if they have xfactors

I believe they can develop on their own, I watched Connor Bedard in my Nordiques franchise mode develop all his xfactors and superstar abilities naturally so...

I wonder if the line chemistry actually effects play. I’ve been successful with a -2 line before and power play lines, mirroring my starting lines, suddenly go negative where as they’re + 2 in starting line section. 🤔 Interesting video though! 👍 I’d probably get into it more if I knew for sure all these things actually made a difference, like gameplay sliders do.

Yeah EA seems to play some illusive games with franchise mode and all the factors that truly affect it. Tbh I think there's a lot of scripting that goes on with a franchise mode storyline and sequence of events.

@@andygilson1859 Teams with 100 offense, 95 defense and 85+ goaltending sometimes finish bottom of the league while teams with 80, 83 and 77 can go to the finals. It does reflect somewhat accurately on how competitive the nhl is but it's also annoying.

Sorry if I missed this in the video, but how exactly do player types affect line chemistry and what's with the "offensive strategy" chemistry fit? I can't find any info on a player card regarding what line strategy they actually prefer.

So I recommend Offensive Scheme fit because it matches best with building around defensemen. The best way to tell if a player fits a scheme well is by viewing the coaches overall fit with your whole team in the hiring process. As far as player types go, PWF, PLY, SNP Fit well together and OFD and DFD will maximize chemistry too. TWF and TWD now fit better with X-Factors but are usually still not perfect with maximizing chemistry. TWF and GRN are best for 3rd or 4th line fit.

Thanks for the video man. I have a simple question does having a + line actually change the players overall rating on that line. For example, if I have a +3 line Chem with 2 defensemen who are 88, do they play like a 91? Or is it just how well they play together. Any info would be super appreciated. Been looking for answers and still can't quite get a definitive one. TIA man

I believe it means that players play like they would be +3 overall higher rated. This only applies when you play in game. It doesn't make a difference simulating

Great video, great content. Buuut…. I’ve seen quite a few videos on line chemistry, but no in depth looks at building team chemistry. Even if I keep a whole team together for 3+ years, I can’t get my team chemistry above 75. Is there any hits or tips on building TEAM chemistry ?!?

Yeah the 2 things that will really help with that are A. Draft players that you are certain fit your scheme, and B. Go out and trade for players that fill bad Chem roles in your lineup

I found out that having leaders help your team chemistery and the more you have the more your team will perform. This is only something i experienced so im not sure it’s true but it is working for me.

Would try and pick up players that their scouting report said they’re a good locker room leader and would never trade anyone who got “leader” status on the morale screen. Highest I’ve got to is 77. I’ve got my AHL squad team chemistry to 84. Still not much movement on the NHL club tho. Can have a 10-15 game win streak and no chemistry gained. One loss and lose 1-2 on team chemistry. Just makes no sense. EA should put out some kind of guide about the actual mechanics on team chemistry that way we can actually have an idea on how to improve chemistry instead of just guessing and prodding to see what works.

If he's your top player, his e-factors should make up for lost chemistry as long as your can put other players on his line to keep line chem high

Do you know if there are certain X factors that will go with another X factor? In The first look at franchise mode video it said that shooting X factors go with passing X factors. I’ve seen that in some of my lines in my franchise mode that not all X factors go together. Why is this?

You want complimentary X-Factors, meaning shooting, playmaker and physical X-Factora play well together where as defensive, physical and battling X-Factors make more sense for grinder type lines. It doesn't make sense if you have a grinder who slows the play down and cycles and battles for possession playing with McDavid who has wheels. You want your X-Factors to aid each linemates play style on your team

I would disagree with what you mentioned about the impact of x-factors on line chem. The fact that I can get a +5 with someone who has 2 yellow dashes and 3 red X's for a scheme fit shows how strong they are for chem.

Oh yeah they affect the line chemistry, no doubt. But they still come after scheme fit and player type balance in building your lines. Do the other player on your line with the bad fitting player compliment that players strengths?

@@Etanyos They do. It’s not like it’s 3 snipers and they all have poor scheme fit. It was probably something like 4 and 3 green checks on the other 2 with complimenting positions, even if it wasn’t perfectly complimentary. So yes, scheme fit and player type is still massively important but I just felt you downplayed the impact of x-factors a bit.

Hey man, thanks for this, really useful! Question, I have a first line C who had med elite potential and is 90ovr at 22, so I don’t want to trade him. He doesn’t have great chemistry with any of my other forwards, but I’ve found a first line that gets +5 with him on due to x-factors. So I therefore built the rest of the roster to the coaches scheme, have I made a mistake? Should I have got a coach that fitted my franchise guy and then built from there?

As long as he gets the +5 theres no downsides to having a poor scheme fit. Scheme fit only effects line chem but if your chem is maxed out it doesnt matter.

It's a shame the game forces you to build your team the same way as everyone else if you want line chemistry. I built a pretty talented team who still can't win when I simulate and Idk if it's the line chemistry or if the simming is just broken.

Line chemistry doesn’t make any sense when I have a 3+ 2nd line I want to move them up to the first my line goes to 1+

It does make sense if their system fit for the 2nd line is better than their fit for the first line. You probably need to change your head coach to get a better fit.
