So I came home late last night and decided to watch the last few mins of the third because I know the avs are good and damn I’m glad I did. Quick young team but they’re smart as well. As soon as they get possession in the offensive zone it seemed like their players were set up in great passing lanes. Absolutely great team.

I wasnt sure and my blood pressure was going crazy. Team was definitely losing their cool. EJ was benched by Bednar rightfully so. The hit was unfortunate but I don't think it was dirty. For the Hall hit on MacK (as an Avs fan) I don't think it is necessarily clean. If the stick isn't there I think Hall blasts MacK in the chin with his shoulder. Corey Perry dropped the gloves even though the injury towards John Tavares was accidental and unfortunate. After the game, Perry was asked about fighting and he responded with something along the lines of that he "had to" fight. It's a similar situation where a teams star player gets injured from a hit that accidently caused a bad injury. I'm not saying Hall should have fought Landeskog. But seeing how Perry was aware that even though he didn't mean to, he still took out a star player, so he felt obligated to answer the bell when the opposing team wanted to address it. Perry addressed it with respect and acknowledged that he was still in the wrong, despite intent. Hall stuck with feeling like he shouldn't be accountable for the injury. Landeskog and Erik Johnson saw the hit in real time and mostly saw the aftermath (a bloody MacKinnon). I'm sure during intermission they finally had access to the slow motion replay that we as fans get to see. At the end of the day, when a star player goes down, the teammates will always look to retaliate, accidental or not. I'm sure the Maple Leafs knew that Perry's knee struck Tavares head on accident. But they still approached Perry (I can't remember the player that fought him). Perry fought and the Leafs moved on. If Hall fights Landeskog, I'm certain the Avs would have moved on. Anyways, that's my take. Have a good night everyone.

Wow! Have you ever played hockey? or even understand the dynamics of a particular game? there are fine points, especially on the road that the coach drills pre-game and i’m sure they were emphasized after “the hit” or “stick hit”. Corey Perry and Taylor Hall are different players and have different roles. The real problem in this game were the refs letting the Aves take liberties not just with Hall but a lot of other stick work, right in front of everybody and no calls.

People do not realize Kadri is the greatest playmaker since Gretzky, and imo had he been given full reigns on his team(s) and in the league to show that from the start, he'd prove to be better than the great one. Trust, he's better than Oates and Thorton for sure, the last two to own those crowns. Naz just creates productive plays and oppurtunities, makes it simple for his teammates to use that open room in front of them to make a sweet shot, off a perfect pass. If you've played the game then you know there is a distinct vibe or groove that develops from a clean pass. He has those in his arsenal, and then there's his precision chess move dishes, like to Landeskog, where you literally have no chance if he connects. You could be a first year beginner on skates playing in an NHL game and he'll find a way to get you a tap in. Best quarterback in the game today, no question.

The Colorado Avalanche’s 2nd period performance was very selfish and undisciplined. Erik Johnson took a very stupid cross-checking penalty that gave the Bruins a 5 on 3 powerplay. They ended up scoring on both powerplays. What happened to Mackinnon was unfortunate, but harassing Hall was not going to get him back on the ice or help the team win. Linus Ullmark is a very tough goalie when he is on the road. He is ranked 3rd in the league for SV% on the road with a .930. He is only behind Markstrom and Shesterkin. I don’t know what Bednar said to the team during the 2nd intermission, but it worked because they looked completely different on the third period. The Avs didn’t give up as they kept being aggressive and eventually overtaking the Bruins on shots at 41-32. Cale Makar ends his goal scoring drought at 7 games with the OT game winner. The streak extends to 17, but it is getting more difficult for the Avs to win at home.
