Very impressed with this effort. Matheson loses the puck in the corner and then Caufield makes the wrong decision. Stuff like that happens all the time in OT though - everything is a high risk situation. Bruins end it on a 3 on 1. Roy needs to shoot, Penalty killing by Armia, little too aggressive there. Flames on Saturday at the Saddledome.

True... but it's the frequency of these mistakes that happen. Matheson put himself OUT of the play in overtime by trying to go solo. In overtime? Where's the support? Caufield (although still young) makes his errors often. I was going to say perhaps one per game (blind passes, giveaways, etc.) but it's less than that. Although, tonight he made two big errors. Defending in overtime that led to a Bruins goal and in the 2nd period passing the puck blindly that led to a breakaway. Hopefully he will mature and make better choices. I don't understand why the Canadiens spend so much time in games in their own end. I understand it's the Bruins but they also have problems with lower ranking teams as well.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Caufield coming down like that to support but he can’t do a flyby away from the play. He basically took himself out of the play and left just one guy back. He’s young and he’ll learn but those are the mistakes that really cost you.

@@emmettebramble10 Any way you put it, the play Matheson did always had a risk of creating 3 on 2 for the opposing team, without your defensman, since he is behind opponent goal.. so I think it was always a wrong play, high risk low reward, unless you are Makar or something, which Matheson isnt. Cole read the play wrong too though, should have realized its time to defend. I dont think I said i dont like matheson, I just meant this particular case, it wasnt "on caufield", though he was a smaller part of it sure. Anyway, split second decisions, could have happened to Boston as well.. what can you do.

Like him or not, he has been playing the best hockey of his career BY A MILE, since coming to his hometown. And on a pretty bad team overall at that. He skates like the wind and his passing is always productive. MTL would be lost without him. He won't be going anywhere for a long time so I suggest maybe making your peace with his style of play. I'll tale MM over Petry or Edmundson every single day. It's just MHO though.
