NHL Highlights | Kings vs. Canucks - March 25, 2024

Blake Lizotte and Anze Kopitar broke a second period tie with a pair of quick goals and the Los Angeles Kings survived a late scare from the Vancouver Canucks hanging on to win 3-2.

I hope these two play each other in the playoffs. Outside of the first meeting, the two games they've played have been tight, and low scoring, but intense. A 2012 rematch would be entertaining to watch.

A well fought game the kings were relentless the whole game.

This game was a prime example of how L.A. could be one of the most dangerous teams in the playoffs. Stifling defense, and stellar goaltending. L.A. locked it down in the 3rd period. They did it so well, that Vancouver pulled their goalie with just under 5 minutes left in the game, and they immediately started to create scoring chances with the extra man. The King's defense and Talbot would expertly handle most of these chances, before Vancouver would get one to go off of Kopitar's skate, similarly to the second King's goal that Soucy kicked into his own net. The Kings would hold on however, after missing a couple of looks at the empty net, and extend their win streak to 4 games. They also denied Vancouver of the honor of the first team to secure a playoff berth this season. Arvidsson's presence in the lineup has been tremendous for the Kings this season. Including tonight, Arviddson has played in seven games, all of which, the Kings have won. Over those seven games, he has 1 goal, 4 assists, and is a +4. He is an invaluable piece in the Kings lineup, and will be essential for L.A. in the playoffs. Kopitar also scored a goal and an assist, to tie him for 50th all time in points with Vincent Damphousse. He continues to lead the Kings in scoring this season, with 64 points. Legendary player, who doesn't get talked about as much as he should be. Great start to the Canadian road trip for the Kings. They get a couple days off before facing Edmonton for the 4th and final time in the regular season. They're playing well, so hopefully a couple days off doesn't throw them off their game. Go Kings Go!

their goaltending is terrible. it only looks good because of the 1-3-1 they play. they’re forced to play that system because of their goaltending. barely beat a canucks team without regulars and played terrible. they need a superstar talent that can take over games if they want to get to the next level

@@zahiddhare8095 You don't watch Kings games my friend. Both Talbot and Rittich have had highlight reel saves all season, and are integral part to the Kings penalty kill, and defense. The Kings also have superstar talent in Kopitar, Doughty, Kempe, and Fiala. They're a team where defense comes first, so point totals aren't too high. Not that they need to be for a player to be considered a superstar. Lastly, Kings are missing some regulars too. Injuries are no excuse. Good teams overcome. It was a good game, so just accept that he Canucks lost, and move on.

They sit on 2 goal leads instead of continuing to stay aggressive offensively. The way things look, it might be Kings/Oilers in the playoffs for the 3rd year in a row. Lots of us do; Kings = Old Guys, underachievers , who is in goal? Canucks tinkering and developing lines in case of injuries in playoffs, Vezna Caliber goalie out, 60% faceoff and former Selke defensive center not playing etc. Vegas is a problem to deal with Kings are what their record states they are "Mid"

This is a lot like the Colorado Avalanche game from recently. When a team comes into Rogers Arena with a strong defensive mindset, my worry for the Canucks skyrockets, because I do not think they understand that when their tactic of puck dumps and short shift changes does not work against teams like Kings, they still carry on using it. They don't seem to have a Plan B when Plan A doesn't work. And in terms of prowess and clinical edge, it's as blunt as a worn pencil.

This is silly. The Canucks beat the Kings a few weeks ago in their arena. They are at the top of the NHL standings for a reason. They’ve lost some games against good opposition, like every team. They’ve won more though. Much more.

He can't move laterally to save his life. All 3 goals were on him. He may as well not even moved on the first he was so slow, the second he went flying out of the crease for no reason, and the 3rd he should have snagged that kopitar wrister out of the air. I heard a great deal about the officiating in this game. Really bad call on Boeser and two blatant interference calls post Boeser penalty not called. So, I watched this section of the game and behold yup the complaints were valid. Does anyone that follows the Nucks expect anything will change? The only change will come is if the fan base makes a big stink about these officials. The Kings to their credit did what they had to do to have a chance at a point.

Nucks have a good mix this year. But this LA team is exactly the type of team that can beat them. I would argue that they dont have the high end talent the canucks have. But they make up for it with 4 decent lines that have nothing to lose. Demko can make the difference though...when he's healthy

That game was a hell of a hard fight. Canucks played really good, especially Lafferty, he pulled off a great goal. Then at the last minute of the game, they were hellbent on tying the game at the third period, forcing overtime and a chance to win the game and to clinch their first playoff spot. That is a type of fervor I love to see. On to the eighth home stand game against the Stars on Thursday…

Fell asleep for most of the game, Kings play the most boring style of hockey, but it works… Canucks didn’t play poorly either though, just some bad bounces. A positive I can take away from this game is that Podkolzin looks really really good.
