The Leafs as a whole weren't really that bad. It was almost exclusively the top line that was awful. Matthews and Marner were -6.

The Canes defense got a lot better afterwards but still left much to be desired. They really need to work on scoring more goals, their stick handling, and defense because they need to get a whole lot better if they are to make a deep playoff run.

People like to talk about Boston owning the Leafs, how about Carolina? Feels every time we play them we get humiliated or come out flat. I would say we were due for a loss, but like our last 3 losses have been to Winnipeg, Washington and now Carolina. Woll was not at his best and it might be cause of how often he’s been playing. Also Matthews AND Marner at -6, how does that happen and is it a red flag for another embarrassment in the spring? Just hope they can regroup for Saturday. No panic.

The Leafs can keep pretending they're the Canadian powerhouse, but when it comes down to it, we all know it’s the Oilers who are gonna bring the Cup back to Canada.
