I'm from Pittsburgh and Malkin is my favorite player of his era. IMO he's highly under-rated. I have no doubt that if he would have played as many games as Ovechkin, he'd be the all time Russian leading scorer.

@@stevedewitt2443 I grew up in Oregon, where they still don't have an NHL team, so my early days of hockey fandom began back in the Mario Lemiux, Jaromir Jagr, Wayne Gretzky, Sergei Fedorov, Steve Yzerman days. I've actually loved the Penguins probably slightly longer than the Wings, but have been more dedicated to the Wings in general (about the mid-90's). I just love hockey! 🤘💚🏒💯

It's more of a defense issue; you have players too soft on the attacking team and dodging the puck instead of blocking the puck and preventing it from hitting its goalie

BUT, it was the first game and first home game and they were hopefully riding off a little momentum from the finish to last season and the Penguins had already been destroyed the previous day at home 6-0. Put those all together and it's understandable for a fan to have a little concern/frustration.

The offence is there for Detroit, Defense.. is not... rn hot takes on goaltending/Husso sucking... what can you do when you get zero help from 5 guys front of you.. That Red Wings rosters holds loads of potential, playoffs success potential, that was just 1 game. Also, Lalonde might not be that guy.. not a bad coach, but the roster is a type that he can't coach right. All that said, i honestly believe Red Wings will play playoffs hockey this season.

Oli Maata, Petry and Gustafsson are not very good on defense. I would have kept Albert Johanssen up on the big team over Maata or Petry. I also would give Shy Buim time along with Axel Sanding Pelleka. These old vets are not doing us anything good, let these kids cut their teeth.
