Malkin has been playing his best hockey since, like, 2018 to start this season. Not just offensively, he's playing smart defense too. Wild to see.

Congrats from New York & a Rangers fan. I have resented Sid and Malkin over the years in all the series we've met in. But in the end it is just a game and these guys are fantastic hockey players, and as hockey fan I am happy to see the joy in any player (except Tkachuk Bros, Marchand, Wilson & Bennett) reaching epic milestones. For those recently getting hooked on the game of hockey, hear me: Sidney Crosby is one of the greatest to every play the game. He has been MVP level since 2006, missed in total 2 seasons due to concussions, and at 38 he still has elite conditioning & skates extremely well, few read the ice like he does (that instant back pass redirect on the late goal), he is a fierce competitor, he still practices like his roster spot is not a given and he took a hometown discount to free up cap space for Pens the next two years. A classy genuinely good person. People tend to forget Sid basically missed two years in his absolute prime, and he was hitting 100+ point seasons when scoring was generally 20-25% lower. He would have been over 2K points by the end of this season if healthy. Congrats to Malkin on 500 and Sid on 1600.

@@closethockeyfan5284 Penguins have two guys sitting who can contribute to the bottom 6 (Possibly AB as well if moved from line 1 to the bottom 6). Lizotte and Pusty will be in the lineup at some point. AB is garbage and not even a top 9 talent on this club. DOC or Jesse should be on line one complementing Sid. Wake up....AB is a huge downgrade on line one over DOC or JP.

@@johnnythunder196 Puljujarvi doesn't fit the style at all in my view, much better fit with Malkin if placed in the top six. That second line is humming, though, so I wouldn't mess with it. I don't have any problem with flipping Beauvillier and O'Connor. I actually think that could work for the Crosby and Eller lines pretty well, both dynamic blends of speed, skill, power, and 200-foot dutifulness. The line of Hayes, Acciari, and Glass I don't really want to mess with yet either. They're looking good early on. I guess we will see when Lizotte gets back what that means. Puustinen and McGroarty I expect to be demoted at some point. Sullivan clearly doesn't care for the former and seems to easily decide young players don't belong in his lineup, right or wrong.

@@closethockeyfan5284 Acciari is the probably the worst player of the top 12. Rutger was already sent down (what do you mean "at some point"?) & never deserved to make the club. He made the opening roster due to the Rust and Lizotte injuries. Line one needs more production than Beau provides so who will it be? DOC is also a good choice because he has the speed component but is also now a scoring threat (unlike Beau). Sully doesn't "clearly" dislike Pusty. There was a logjam of depth & Jesse beat him out for the spot. I think they're drastically overrating Beau (or overly optimistic) because I think he stinks. There's good reason three teams gave up on him last season. If we lose Pusti on waivers I think we'll regret it. He'll be claimed & he has more potential than some of the guys already in our everyday lineup.

My takeways from this game: 1) Whoever left Malkin off of the top 100 all-time players should be smacked 2) Letang looked brutal this game 3) Puljujarvi is looking like an allstar this year... that chemistry will Eller and O'Connor is looking like one of the best 3rd lines in the league 4) Jarry needs to be traded or bought out.. Blomqvist needs to be the starter moving forward
