Dostal is the future of Anaheim. They need to renew the team, year by year, player by player. The goalie department is okay.

The Ducks for the past few decades have done well drafting goalies. That is usually never the reason they struggle some years. With the cap space they've got and the overall cap going up a good amount. The Ducks could really bounce back during this upcoming off-season. Grabbing another good defensemen for them would help this team a lot. They have some really good offensive players and really good young upcoming stars. Things are starting to look good for the Ducks.

Will Smith had 2 penalties and the ducks scored on both. When the sharks pulled blackwood and had an empty net Will Smith turned it over and the ducks scored again. Will Smith needs to give Will Smith a slap.

Zegras commitment and buy in to defensive game is very evident @ 1:27. Notices that dman pinch, gets on his horse right away, and takes away the 2 on 1 threat. Compare it to Carlsson who, uncharacteristically, lags it trying to cover for the dman both @ 0:55 and 1:55 which leads to couple grade-A scoring chances.

I thought Will Smith offensively had his best game of the year. He generated a few scoring chances and could've recorded his first point if not for Dostal. He took 2 penalties which puts a dark stamp on it. Penalties in general have been a massive issue for this team, with both the veterans and young players. Warsofsky as head coach needs to talk some discipline into the team. Blackwood was great and kept the team in a game they were being outplayed. We'll see if they can get the first win against the Kings

@@brando7266 Doug Wilson made the team worse. Ever since the Karl trade and his new contract the team has been in the decline. Grier still has to waste cap on Martin Jones who Wilson hired and fired before him. When Grier took over the team was already bad and needed contracts dumped if the team was going to be bad anyway, Some Grier moves though I never liked them and others did ok. I would not have drafted macklin or Smith and traded down both times. I would have not signed Toffoli or Wennberg and traded that cap for a cap dump player or 1 year contract by preference. Grier has to win eventually or he will get fired.

@@brando7266 If you are tired of losing Wilson stayed around way too long. For someone who got the sharks 2 wins away from a cup he did some foolish moves that really hurt the team. The sharks owner refused to fire him. I would have fired Grier the moment he refused to trade down with the Smith pick for insurance. Grier has no insurance from Smith or Macklin getting hurt / having on or off ice issues / being busts and I would have got that insurance first. When he signed Toffoli and Wennberg that was also foolish because the sharks can lose with anyone and their cap that the sharks waste on them could be traded for a profit. Martin Jones was good and bad in his time as a shark. His contract was too long just like Vlasic and Couture. Most 6 to 8 year contracts hurt the team more than the player but there is a few exceptions. Jones should have got a 4 year deal max.

It is why Grier should not have gone after Toffoli and Wennberg. He could have taken that same cap room and traded for a 1 year cap dump or multi year cap dump and been paid to do it. If you going to be garbage anyway you can be paid to be.

Ducks are half-way there finally getting rid of the awful duck foot "D". But that vomit orange color scheme jersey is just terrible. Just go back to purple, teal and white and do it right! Oilers briefly experimented again with that awful navy blue and weird orange and you just can't beat the classics they are the best for most teams. Case in point the LA Kings as well which look wonderful. Same for Winnipeg's 70s WHA sweaters they often wear again, those are gorgeous!
