There is plenty of hitting just a lot crunching guys when the opponent sees nothing but the numbers with a lot of head shots included in those boarding calls..I get protecting teammates but every time there's a good clean hit everyone goes nuts pushing and shoving. I'm also for players safety but the dead puck era fighting rules were so much better. 3rd man in, taking helmets off when fighting to protect the hands anyone who's punched a helmet knows how that feels. And a player with a visor who fought and didn't take it off got a penalty bc who wants to fight a guy with that on you'll break fingers and knuckles. I didn't love the instigator rule but it would be beneficial today with every big clean hit that person gets jumped by someone. So handle it the next time your on the ice with that player. Today's game is soft in those respects compared then..I like the speed and not being able to basically molest someone like before but helmet stuff Is a bit much but I guess the league had to bc of the concussion stuff and pressure from media and public. If there was a big hit,as long as it wasn't dirty they handled it once the opportunity arose not just immediately going after someone after every big hit..

New nhl get me sick...can't have a good solid hit without guy jumping in... I all for defending your teammates but if its legal and clean I really dont understand, at best remember the number and deal with it otherwise

I completely agree it's crazy..I'm all for players safety but I like the dead puck era rules when it come to fighting and 3rd man in..when fights would happen both players would take their helmets off as to not destroy their hands or if they were on and got ripped off the refs wouldn't jump in. And if a player with a visor fought and didn't remove his helmet he got a penalty..now its just silly after every big hit and most of them clean its just a free for all of pushing and shoving with one player trying to fight the guy dishing the hit..

Is there not a penalty for leaving your feat anymore? About half of these hits the guy leaves his feet. That's a penalty.

I thought so too on many of these, but it’s mostly right after the impact. Leaving your feet before still gets called. But yea there were a few questionable ones for sure

They should honestly start giving guys who jump someone after a clean hit an extra 5 minutes, it's so fucking stupid that just because you laid a big hit you have to fight now, completely ruins the point of playing physical
