Absolutely ridiculous that is the case, too. Say whatever you want about soccer, but at the very least in that game, trophies are lifted by the winning team’s captain first, as well. Ice hockey is such a great sport, with the most amazing and fierecely contested trophy in all of sport. And it’s cool that it has these traditions that are unfortunately not observed in the other major NA sports.

I’m a panthers fan and this is just so wholesome. What these guys go through, playing the most physically demanding/dangerous sport, it’s tough not to tear up in these moments. Both teams left their heart out there on the ice. Big congrats to Vegas and I hope one day we’ll meet again for a rematch in the playoffs. This is what the sport is all about.

As a Knights fan, I can say the Panthers were INCREDIBLE this year. Beating a record-breaking Boston team was an enormous accomplishment. Certainly better days ahead for the Florida Panthers organization.

In fact, Vegas was one of the Longshots to win it all after the First Round, but man, did they make all the Haters & Doubters wrong. @@JezelJordan It definitely wasn't easy for Eichel because of him being picked 2nd behind a generational talent in McDavid!! He also dealt with team executives publicly expressing disappointment prior to the draft that they might select him instead of #97 thinking that it was a step down without realizing they were still going to get a top player. That really affected him especially having to see & hear the hockey punditry throw bouquets at McDavid(which is deserved!) on a nonstop basis which made it seem that he waa some kind of bum or bust who didn't even belong in the convo as 1 of the most talented players to play the sport. The failure in Buffalo was combination of the organization being poorly managed & him not being a lead guy meaning he doesn't make players better around him & is not a leader. Eichel is better off being a guy instead of the guy which is why he's having success in Vegas culminating with a Cup.

It was better coverage for sure, however viewership for SCF this year was down. Not a great idea to not have the Final on network TV, hurt the numbers .

He won a title with the UNLV Rebels in 1990. (Adin Hill wore Larry Johnson's/Grandmama's jersey, a teammate of his, in the parade.) He came close to winning an NBA title also, but Kenny Smith's Rockets won the 1994 Finals over the Knicks 4 games to 3. Cole, his son, plays for the Magic.

We do. We knew Eichel was a super star player. He's not the type of player to carry a team on his back which is what Buffalo wanted him to do. A change of scenery was needed for both sides. Vegas was a perfect fit for Eichel because they already had an experienced leadership core established. All Jack had to do was play hockey. And you'll be hearing a lot more from the young Sabres in the next 3 seasons

I think he was making the point that fans use storm the rinks n fields when teams won back in the day. N he enjoyed just having it with the team and not be bombarded by fans when he won it the 4th time in 87-88. It’s become a new era of tradition to allow families into winning surroundings that wasn’t existent in the past,’ which he respects.
