It’s HOT in the Steam Room as Ernie and Charles tip off Season 3 with none other than Wayne Gretzky. The Great One talks everything from his new gig at the NHL on TNT desk, Alexander Ovechkin’s record chase and his short stint on the basketball court. Charles doesn’t hold back on his thoughts surrounding Ben Simmons & Kyrie Irving. Chuck’s Answering Machine makes its return with even more spontaneity and sincerity.

For those who don’t know much about Gretzky he won his 10 scoring titles by an average of 49 points. He won eight consecutive Hart Trophies as league MVP. If he never scored a single goal, he’d still easily be the NHL’s all-time leader in points. He holds like 60 records in the NHL. Crazy guy

Yup... #99's stats are crazy. It's gonna be interesting if #8 Ovi's goals are going to be enough to pass The Great One... We all know that #99's assist record is gonna be tough to beat for decades to come, if ever. Enjoy! .... And like they said at 10:00... No player has the combined goals & assist points to even equal just Gretzky's assist points total. Yet...

While Gretzky remains far ahead in points, Lemieux is generally one name that is being brought up when discussing the greatest players. A 'what if' story due to his various issues (back; cancer). 1723 points. All time leaders, points per game: 1. Gretzky 1.921 2. Lemieux 1.883 3. Bossy 1.497 4. McDavid 1.424 (active; the current best player in the league; one of few who have been dubbed 'The Next One' in reference to Gretzky being called 'The Great One') 5. Orr 1.393 6. Dionne 1.314 7. Crosby 1.274 (active; the best player for years before McDavid; also one who was dubbed 'The Next One'; one of the 29 players who have won a Stanley Cup, a World Championship, and an Olympic gold) 8. Stastny 1.268 9. Forsberg 1.250 (also one who has won a Stanley Cup, a World Championship, and an Olympic gold) 10. Nilsson 1.241

@@randyjames693 I understand that. both are great but Brett hits for a higher average and gets on base more then Schmidt but he does hit for more power. But in a short series I want to go with that guy that can get on base more often because power hitters run hot and cold and when the pitching gets better they hit with less power.

The records he has are out of this world, but the (4) 200 point seasons (the only person to ever hit 200pts) the 8 straight MVPS, 92 goal season, 163 assist season, and if you take away his 894 goals he would still have the most career points ever in the NHL. There’s so many more but those stand out to me. He has so many more. I was a die hard oilers fan and I cried when he got traded to the Kings.
