Former Wild goalie Manny Fernandez comes to mind. He's Portuguese. Excellent video.

Hispanic indicates a country that speaks Spanish. A diverse group of nations in different continents like Spain, Chile and Equatorial Guinea are Hispanic. Latino indicates countries that are geographically located in Latin America regardless of official language. Spanish-speaking nations like Peru, Mexico and El Salvador plus non Spanish-speaking Brasil. Portugal, while still a badass country that cans the best sardines, is neither Hispanic nor Latino. No disrespect to Manny Fernández. Loved him on the Wild. I thijnk he won a few Jennings Trophys too. 🤘🏼

I'm Puerto Rican, and I've been a Rangers fan since 2004. I've looked up to players like Brian Leetch and Jagr growing up but sadly hockey was never popular in my area and I didn't get to play street hockey until I was 16 and ice hockey until I was 20.(I'm 26 now)Really glad that alot of these fellow Hispanic/Latino players are giving back. Something I would've loved to do

It’s always great when they give back and inspire others to pursue something that seems unachievable, but they are living proof that it is possible!

Cool video! You should do one about NHL players from the Caribbean. Last I checked there have been three: Andre Deveaux, Claude Vilgrain, and Graeme Townshend.

@@alexyu1236 again all three of those guys were born in Canada. Yes, they have Caribbean heritage, but when said "players from the Caribbean" in my original comment, I meant players who were actually born in a Caribbean country.

¡Gracias! As a Mexican-American hockey fan I appreciate and thank you for this vid. Growing up in the 80s it was difficult to find a Hispanic nor Latino in the NHL. I was very happy when Gomez became a star in the NHL. 🤘🏼

I love the video it was amazing 🤩!! You forgot to mention Alec Martinez, Matt Nieto and José Théodore. Guerin wasn’t the first Hispanic to be drafted it was Ernie Vargas who participated in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft and he was selected by the Montréal Canadiens in the 117 selection.

I'm Nicaraguan myself in my mid-40s and played hockey when I was younger. Because of lack of connections, I wasn't able to get into the junior leagues in Canada. Oh well. Life goes on but it's nice to see others made it. 👍

A lot of these guys aren’t full blooded Hispanic or Latino. It’s a bit disingenuous when most of the surnames are European, the players are American, and they don’t identify as Hispanic.

You're absolutely Wrong your Sur Name means Nothing! My heritage is Nicaraguan but my DNA is 70 % European 30% Italian 10% German 10% British Isles 10% Slavic 8%Iberian 2%Scandinavian 30% American Native Indigenous from Mexico Colombia, Peru and Puerto Rico! I have 0 % Indigenous blood from Nicaragua because my European Nicaraguan Ancestors migration was to the Pacific side of Nicaragua where almost everyone had migrated from all over America and Europe but But both of my Parents and five Generations back were Nicaraguan My Sur Name would suggest that I'm Portuguese but I'm only 8% So Billy Guerin is Of Nicaraguan Culture his Mother that gave Birth to him is 100% Nicaraguan and her Surname is Delgadillo! He grew up eating Gallo Pinto! Vacation's to Nicaragua from his youth and has a lot of Nicaraguense Family in Miami! He is Definitely Nicaraguense and Irish American! He is along side two other Great Nicaraguan Sports Legends Hall of Famers Alexis Arguello and Dennis Martinez !

@@xaviersilva9796 Interesting details. Yeah even though Guerin is half Nicaraguan, he is 100% Nicoya.
