I can understand Tkachuk and Marchand but I have never seen Reaves "sucker punch" anyone, he has some hard checks but when it comes to fighting he always makes it very obvious there is a fight unless the other guy grabs him first and he reacts.

Mrazek covered the puck, Thornton tried to poke it free (which was a mental misstep on his part...the whistle was coming), Mrazek swiped at Thornton (in response to the swats he received from Thornton), then Thornton retaliated. They were both at fault ultimately, but the root cause was Joe attempting to free the puck from under Mrazek (which, again, is kinda stupid when you know the whistle is coming).

@@Alsebra Thornton was wrong to poke it. Mrazek *tried* to swipe at Thornton and missed. Thornton retaliated on a *missed* swipe by punching the guy in the face and needing medical supervision. Let that sink in and tell me Thornton is not a neanderthal. It's behavior like that that make me happy the guy never won anything at the NHL level in his career.

I contend that Thornton was the root cause of the entire fight (without knowing what else happened in that game, of course). Mrazek freezes the puck by covering it (which usually leads to a whistle), Thornton comes over and tries to poke it free...then Mrazek swipes at Thornton with his stick and takes the punch.

Nah Moore was pretty clearly knocked out by the sucker punch. The impact also did a lot of damage but adding the teammate really didn’t impart much extra force on his head. I think the first two impacts were the worst

If you watch Bertuzzi's left arm he lands with it on the back of Moore's neck. And he leans forward as they are going down to put as much of his weight on Moore's upper body as he can and it is his left arm that receives most of the weight of the impact. Steve's head is turned and slightly bent forward when it hits the ice. The combination of the way Moore landed and the placement of Bertuzzi's weight is what ended Steve Moore's career

I hate that anyone deserves it even if they did something dirty in the first place...the league should penalize them, not other players because then anger and emotion cause terrible injuries. Sure bertuzzi cried and said he was sorry but did that change what happened to Moore?....if Moore was suspended big time that wouldn't have happened and no canuck fan was cheering when that happened
