What if a ref calls that the puck didn't cross the line and the play continues, but it's a close call? Doesn't the "war room" check those automatically and can call the goal from there (or stop the play and call the refs to review)? Or was it just in the international tournaments or where the he*? Anyway, they then turn the clock back to the point when the goal was scored and go on from there. Actually it's the same if the other team challenges the call on the next stop. I don't see a problem with that because it's not like it happens in every game (reviews called by the refs, yeah, almost every game, but those that I mentioned...).

Everybody: Well neither has cancelling a penalty midway through it because you got the call wrong been done before...until now when you just did it, so what's the difference? I know this isn't the play pretty much ANYONE is here to discuss but, Lets run through the Penalty Shot Criteria they teach you literally 10 minutes into your first Officiating Clinic, keep in mind all of these criteria MUST be met to award a Penalty Shot: 1. Is [Cam Atkinson] fouled from behind? - Yes, Teravainen dove forward to hook Atkinson 2. Is [Cam Atkinson] in either the Offensive or Neutral Zone at the time of the infraction? - Yes 3. Is there any player between [Cam Atkinson] & the [Carolina] Goaltender? - No, Dougie Hamilton is technically beside him but far enough away to be considered a backchecker & not a defender 4. Is [Cam Atkinson] denied a clear scoring opportunity as a direct result of the infraction? No, as stated below since Atkinson is not in possession of the puck the position he is in cannot be declared a "clear scoring opportunity". 5. Does [Cam Atkinson] have full possession and control of the puck at the time of the infraction? - No, Atkinson pushes the puck out of his reach while attempting to break the zone and is therefore not in possession of the puck when Teravainen commits the infraction As a result of failing to meet 2 of the 5 criteria Atkinson should not have been awarded a penalty shot on this play. Teravainen should have been awarded 2 minutes for hooking(Not a fan of either team just a veteran referee & self-proclaimed analyst)

That’s the new rule: Change to offside rule for 2020-21 NHL season The NHL also announced one fairly significant rule change for this season, and it will impact how offsides is enforced. Starting this season, players will no longer have to have their skate in contact with the blue line to remain onside. The blue line now becomes a vertical plane.

The commentary said tough sequence: its not. The CBJ defense man call it out during the play ref blew the whistle which means the goal stays and delay of game. If a player has a quick site on a play delaying the offensive advance in the zone. He is still credited to pause play. Players are not refs. So ref decided to give the 2 min minor to Columbus Blue Jackets delay of game because the player saw it so the opposing team would delay on the advance in the zone.

As a Hurricanes fan, I am disappointed in the league for counting that offsides goal. However, the penalty shot that was awarded to the Jackets in the next game was also awful. The referees called it a penalty shot when it was on the Jackets side of the red line, which isn't supposed to happen, according to the rulebook. So, Blue Jackets fans, what I guess I'm trying to say is: *DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THE OFFSIDES GOAL, YOU GOT A FREEBIE TOO* Edit: I would also like to point out that while in the game where Carolina got a free goal, they won by one. While Columbus got a free penalty shot that led to a goal, *they* won by one.

In my opinion, the goal should’ve counted, not because he was onside or anything involving how the decision room handled it. Simply, the goal should’ve counted because the missed offsides did not directly lead to the goal, and that’s what this rule was intended to fix. The blue jackets had multiple opportunities to clear and it was like 30 seconds after the zone entry. NHL, make the rule how it’s meant to be.

Based on historical times where it's happened, it wouldn't be unreasonable to replay the CBJ/CAR game starting at 3-3 with 1:15 left in the 2nd. A person made a call who wasn't the person allowed to make that call. It'd be like if a fan dressed as a ref jumped on the ice and made a penalty call. It's an illegitimate play because they aren't the person who can do that. Historical context for restarting would be the time the NBA restarted a game because a ref gave people 3 technical fouls (you can only get 2 per person) so the game was restarted months later from the point where the first illegitimate technical was given.

The “fight” and just the whole game in general was terrible my question is should that offsides delay I counted an it was 17 seconds later they scored so

Like when Brett Hull scored with his foot in the crease to win the cup lol, oh well karma bit back when he lost to Canada in the 2002 Olympics.
@csolivais19793 жыл бұрын
According to the NHL, it was a good goal because he had possession of the puck before he entered the crease.

@@ANDERSON-ps8fp oh, you are right. That was just the league covering it's ass. And you know they were for two reasons, one was they changed the rule after that, so that interference was only if you touched the goalie, and that people said that if that rule happened to win a cup the league wouldn't have the balls to rule it no goal. And well, you seen what happened.

Nice new lighting Steve!

You have the choice to either make it right or keep it consistent. The NHL managed to pick the worst of both worlds: Inconsistent and still incorrect.

I accidentally walked out of a walmart carrying a 2L bottle of coca-cola... no one stopped me. I only realized it when I got to my bike and realized I didnt have a bag to hang off my handle-bars. AT that point I ran back inside and paid for it

Bad play by Holtby, but an even worse effort on the backcheck by Miller and a terrible effort by the Canucks throughout the game. I'm pretty sure Holtby can stare at anyone he wants with his Vezina trophy and Stanley Cup ring. He was brought to Vancouver for his veteran leadership.

Connor Brown's penalty where he just yeeted the puck down the ice. The way he throws his head back, he knew that was a dang-it

Here's my 2 cents, I think the rules need to be fixed. The goal was scored well after the advantage from the missed offsides call was gone. With that, I'd call this a good goal.
@kingofrebels223 жыл бұрын
The issue there is that even though they lost the advantage, the offsides leads to a faceoff, that faceoff is a 50/50 winner. Essentially by saying "the advantage is gone so it shouldn't matter" it says that the 50% chance to win that face off doesnt matter, if Columbus wins that face off. The goal doesn't happen. Etc etc. That's my opinion on your opinion
