I thought the same thing about the cross checking when Aho got called for it last night. He was in the same spot in front of the goal when he cross checked the guy and managed to get the call that no one else seems to be called for.
Bergeron blew a tire in the loss, but redeemed himself the next game with his 900th point and 6th hat trick.

I dont understand what MacKinnon was doing there. Him and Garland were just having a normal physical play along the boards. Garland took a bit of a run at MacKinnon. So naturally MacKinnon headlocks Garland down to the ice and throws his helmet at him once he gets up? What were you on MacKinnon? It was 8-3, there was no need for that

Didn't you see Garland elbowing?? Play the vid on slow and you will. Refs missed it. If MacKinnon was a player like Garland he would have thrown his head back and fall to the ice. Garland is such a diver and embellisher. He should be playing soccer in Italy instead of soiling ice hockey.

1. Breakaway happens to the Buffalo Sabres to the guy who just broke his stick. 2. The Rangers immediately counter attacks to score a goal. Why? 3. While the shaft of the stick gets in the way on the return, and another Sabre has his stick broken on the way into the defensive zone. That's a Sabres 2021 Breakaway if I ever saw one.

Jeremy Swayman getting his NHL debut for the Bruins against the Flyers and stopping 40 shots on goal (23 out of 25 in the second period) to win his first game, the same game that Bergeron passes 900 career points (passing Rick Middleton and Bobby Orr for 4th all time Bruins points) and getting his 6th career hat trick. Double hat pick night? Eh, there was more impressive shots and saves I'm sure, but maybe worth checking out.

Check out the end of the CAR-CBJ game on 3/25. Warren Foegele had a shot on an empty net but was straight up slashed as he shot. No goal awarded, not even a penalty against CBJ. They go on to tie and steal a point with the overtime loss

Since you bring up “explaining hockey to someone for the first time” pretty often, around 15 years ago I went to my first hockey game and had that “goal awarded on a clear path empty net penalty” happen (correctly called) at the end. Sadly my friends also had not gone to a game before so we all just sat there confused 😂
