I'm confused as to how that Toews giveaway could even be slightly on Georgiev. Ok, you can argue he doesn't need to play the puck which is still debatable, but he gets back into position and even makes one save before the rebound is whacked in.

It's bigger than that: Georgiev was *right* to play the puck. It's going around the back of the net towards the side where the Kraken have a man coming in hot and can reverse the play. On the other side, you have an Av whose kinda close and a Kraken player who isn't charging in but is a good candidate for a pass by the Kraken. Settling it, and moving it into the corner with the Avs players at a slower pace makes sense. By settling it and letting Toews take it, you've reset the Kraken's momentum. Georgiev doesn't put the puck on the Kraken's stick, he settles it, gives it to his player, and gets back in net quick enough to block a shot. That dang-it is on Toews.

Bunting’s suspension is fine if the league actually suspended bad hits every time, but it’s like there’s been so many bad hits that have caused injuries that don’t even get a second look by the DOPS. Consistency just isn’t there and it’s super frustrating seeing this get a suspension, but plenty of guys get away with similar type of hits.

I would like to reverse that phrasing to "It's frustrating seeing guys get away with hits that the league clearly agrees aren't safe". I don't think anyone should be frustrated Bunting got suspended. It was deserved. The frustration should be that anyone gets away with it at all and players are put in danger

Never seen two players with the same first and last name play in the same game on opposing teams before. Happens more with players who share either the same first name or same last name, but not both. That's kind of a hat pick in a way, but the play shown here was a dang it.

There was another one earlier in the season where the Hurricanes Aho shot the puck and it deflected off the Islanders Aho into the Islanders net

Although I agree that they should have played Gus, I disagree that it was a dang-it to play Fleury. Most of the goals he let in were not solely his fault either. Almost every single one was on a breakaway or a giveaway by his own team. He had nearly zero help during that game and Minnesota surely didn’t deserve to win that game.

Somehow I forgot to watch this one when it dropped a few weeks ago. I think these playoff episodes are even more enjoyable now after the eliminations which were unknowns at the time. And of course after the Leafs actually did "it."

@@Brasulda nobody argues the reason. We all understand that it’s an extremely dangerous hit. What we have a problem with is the league’s inconsistency. During a regular season game, with the way the officiating has been all year, that hit would get maybe a 1 game suspension at most. But in the playoffs it’s 3? That’s ridiculous. The NHL needs better consistency. Period.

6:06 The Oil had outshot the Kings 11-4 in OT that game. That's the Dang-it nail in the Dang-it coffin there. 8:27 I wanted to believe it was more of a no-look incidental contact situation (it does look like he's just heading into the corner and they make contact), sort of muscling a guy out of the way (still interference), but Bunts immediately does the whole soccer "arms out at the ref" (like he doesn't know what they're talking about) because I'm pretty sure he knew what he did.

I'm still bitter that Bunting gets penalised and suspended (rightly so) but Carter on the Pens does a similar thing to Makar in the regular season and silence. Makar ended up missing a bunch of games for concussion because of it. Sigh, DOPS is useless.

I'm not upset at Bunting getting suspended, it's a dirty hit regardless of if he was trying to hit the head or not, but I'm upset at it being a 3 game suspension. There's been equally if not worse hits/plays that got less penalties. There's no consistency in punishments from the department of player safety, and that's what's frustrating

I think a 1 game suspension for Bunting would have been plenty. But yeah, it was very obviously a elbow/check to the head. The puck was nowhere near either of them, that was a hit that did not need to be made at all, let alone his feet leaving the ice in the jump. I do believe Cirelli sold it a little bit though. Regardless, yeah checking to the head and from behind are things that I think the NHL needs to find a way to eliminate. However, the playoffs is not the time to start cracking down on such hits. The time to start is throughout the entire season. There’s no way that would have been a 3 game suspension (with the way games were officiated all season) if it wasn’t the playoffs. Checks like this need to be more consistently handled. Consistency has always been a problem with NHL officiating though.

Avs Dangit is clearly on Toews. It's not "If you're a goaltender, tend the goal" when it works, and the handoff was successful, and the handoff itself didn't sell Toews into trouble. He fumbled it all by himself.

I mean... the officiating in the Canes-Islander's game is pretty much one big Dang-It (on both sides on both teams if we are being honest here) but no call on the very deliberate slash by J.G. Pageau on to Teuvo Teravainen that ended up breaking is hand and taking him out for the foreseeable future is a hard one to stomach.

I hate the if you’re a goaltender tend the goal line. As a high level goalie, we are taught to play the puck. It’s a part of the goalies responsibility to play the puck aswell.
