Last dangit: The fact that the ref stood his ground, got hit, but it was the leafs player who fell over, and the ref just kept standing there, is freaking hilarious!
@foxboy64 Жыл бұрын
if you ACTUALLY watch it, the ref DIDNT stand his ground. he got caught in that little dance you do when you try to get out of someones way. but the someone tries to walk around you that same way. so you try to move the OTHER way to get out of their way, but then the someone ALSO shifts back to try to go around you that way. but obviously because their on skates riley cant just stop his momentum and the collision happens. this happened because innitially the ref was trying to go to the boards to get out of the way. but then it looked like riley was going to use that lane so he changed direction to stay out of rileys way at the EXACT same time riley pivoted to go around where he thought the ref was going. just a classic miscommunication of intent. (which i think could be avoided if the refs actually NEVER tried getting out of the way of the play, and it were just the players job to play around them. then the refs could just move in consistent, predictable ways and if a player hits them or bumps into them its undeniably the players fault. but hey.) but steve is a leafs fan, so of course it was the ref intentionally getting in riley's way.

All time choke. From a die hard but humble Bruin fan. I was furious for the last 2 or 3 minutes of regulation. Something has been wrong with their confidence for the back half of the season. They kept winning but it wasn't the same. It was dirtier. Luck combined with sheer a staggering amount of depth but not enough try. Announcers kept saying they were selfless but i saw a team that had trouble communicating and often had 2 players either skating past the puck thinking the other would grab it or instead 2 players trying to pick it up which meant they just stick checked each other. No time out called to get their heads in the game? Bergeron is clearly a great captain and an absolute all time great role model on and off the ice, but they needed someone who could pick them up out of their own heads and just start playing simple hockey again. When Bergeron was out they played better and I believe its because they knew they needed to play on edge. Once he came back they played a decent game but Ullmark dropped the ball. Dunno if it was injury, tiredness, or being sick, someone should have made the change earlier. Oh well, doesn't really matter now. As for the future? Well I would hate to see Mr Selke himself end on that note, he alone deserves better. But to have another serious run either Sweeney has some serious magic to do or some players have to be willing to restructure their contracts (doubtful). Someone has to show Montgomery that he needs to coach as well as be friendly and understanding with the players. He's a great dude and immediately improved morale there but was WAY too resistant to changing things that needed to be changed and randomly wanted to change things that worked (game 6 lineup changes for what??)

i'm fairly sure i've seen a couple times where players get hit by a ref, but usually the ref takes the worst of it. that one was just kinda funny. i'm reasonably sure the ref thought he was going a different direction, and when contact is going to happen like that, the safest thing to do is just brace and take the hit. trying to jump out of the way can lead to more significant injuries in the event contact is still made, because now there are skates flying around.

11:30 To my eyes, this isn't really a Dang-It except that it was the game winner. All the Leafs are doing the right thing. McCabe leads the push and it takes a pretty decent defensive stop by Gudas to get the puck to the Panthers. Brodie thinks he can make it to the puck first and immediately disengages when he realizes he can't. I like that play, too. Sammy comes out to challenge and just can't close up a hole. I like that, too. This is one of those, you didn't really do anything wrong and there's not much you could have done better, so dang-it.

Steve. I thought that I was Bad, as A Rangers/Chicago Fan, In Feeling Bad for Bergeron, and, I Hate That Team (as I know you do), but, to Hear You Say That You Felt Bad, That's A Dang It! LOL

The real dang-it is that Boston didn't get to play the Leafs in the second round

I feel bad for a lot of the teams that were eliminated. The utter disappointment on players’ faces. I mean, I feel less bad for the Rangers. 😏 But Bergeron, Ullmark, and Swayman after their season… I want the Leafs to win, but I kinda wanted to see the Bruins get it all.

I think the 2019 Lightning series was the biggest upset in Stanley Cup Playoff history, and I don't know if that can ever be topped. The Bruins at least forced game seven. Heck, at least they forced game _five!_

Im glad we forgot about the 2017 blackhawks getting swept by the preds in the first round after a similar run.

What’s cool though is watching the members of the Panthers team who dress in gray to blend into the shadows and not be seen all hug each other to celebrate.

@sportsnet am i missing something or did you never bring up the avalanche's Nichushkin stuff? Pretty bad when an entire organization helps a player skip town with they may have done something bad

Bruins fan here, maybe trying to rationalize the end of the season, but here I go anyways.... First, they were out in round one last year. Second, they weren't expected to go deep this year if they even made it at all. Their key off season move was getting back two 37 year olds... I don't think this is as epic as people want to remember it as. They basically ended the season the same way they did last year, and the same way everyone EXPECTED them to back in the pre season. Could it be they didn't so much as collapse as much as they vastly exceeded the record they should have had to begin with?? How is the focus more on this situation than it is on the two Stanley Cup finalists from last year ALSO both being bounced in round one?? Also if I'm Sweeney I try and trade Ulmark. Solves two birds with one stone, trade him at his peak allowing for cap relief for a top C or for the needed top C, plus avoids salary conflict with Swayman. If they can't directly get a top C, trade him for high picks and try and sign Orielly for example. This one move could prevent the Bruins from falling out of contention during a generational shift. Their unexpected goalie situation may be the one move they have to avoid a collapse and pay the debt of their bare prospect pool.

The focus is on Bruins cause you just made NHL history with 65 wins and were THE favorites to win it. The Lightning lost key players and lost ya but they wernt expected to go back with the Bruins being the pick from the East and the Avs had like half their core injured playing a team that matched up well in the season (2-0-1) agonist them so it's wasn't that big a surprised the Kraken pulled it.off.

Should be a Dang-it on Draisaitl for scoring 4 goals in one game but also being on the ice for 4 goals against.
@hardrada3534 Жыл бұрын
The way the Boston-Florida series goes down depends on how Florida does from now on. Colombus got eliminated next round after beating the lightning which made it that much more of a meme. If Panthers win than the story becomes more of a Panthers hard won success story than a Bruins failure.

Steve saying Roope Hintz is French (when he is in fact Finnish) in hat picks should have made the cut. I know Northern American people don't care which European country is which but it's as big of a dangit as claiming that Steve is Colombian.
