I wish you could do an AHL dang-it. The absolute hesitation play that Anton Forsberg of the Checkers suffered in OT against the Thunderbirds will be legendary for weeks in Charlotte...and I was in the seats, behind the net, to watch it happen. Puck is skittering down the ice towards Forsberg with a single Thunderbirds forechecker hustling to it. No Checkers defense in sight. Forsberg reads the play correctly, and moves out of his crease (don't jump ahead at this) to swat the puck back into the neutral zone...except he freaking hesitates at the hash-marks! When he realizes that yes, he is making the right play and tries to close the gap, he arrives at the puck to late and the Thunderbirds player just power-moves behind and dumps the puck into the empty net. My head drops into my hands as the Checkers lose 3-4 on a night that saw them come back from a 0-2 deficit. The knife though? That little extra twist? They show the replay from the reverse angle and show the Thunderbirds player LAUGHING his arse off as he puts the puck in. Like, internally he's like "oh well! Sure! I'll take the free goal and the win thankyouverymuch!" Ugh...dang it!
