Really, it's probably worth revisiting everyone's reaction to that trade every month or so. So many people so confidently incorrect about Florida getting ripped off for a player that Calgary couldn't keep. Granted, he got the value he could, but holy hell what a deal for us.

I like the point at the end the practices are harder than the games they play. This is true they are coming out of every practice with stitches and injuries that players on other teams would sit out a month minimum with, and laughing about it as they go to the locker room 😑. How do you beat the guys that have better cardio and laugh about getting hurt? They are like kabib from the ufc. They are not fancy at all they just sit on you and slowly drain the life out of you over time.

FL has to be one of the best, if not the best forechecking team in the NHL. When that forecheck is on. They are almost unbeatable. It also lessens the pressure on the offense to produce goals at a high rate. They can win close games 2-1,3-2. and It also takes a physical and mental toll on the opposition's players who wind up looking dog tired at the end

People come to see goals not boring forcheck that kills the flow of the game, records are there for goals scored not for forcheck. Hope Oilers win otherwise half of the league not having enough talent to win will turn into butchery hockey and will "forcheck" Tampa played amazing hockey when they won with talent and system this Panthers team is brutal to watch .

Yes but the Board of Directors don’t want that type of team because it is not as entertaining and the Leafs are not owned by a Hockey Company but an Entertainment Company. The Leafs Board are very happy with the team as it is presently composed because they are very entertaining and profitable. More profitable than if they played like the Panthers. Winning for MLSE is for the Shareholders not the fans. The Leafs should not do much to change their team. Just shuffle in and out a few new guys to make it more entertaining. To hell with the fans.

Actually, yes I do. It seems they are underestimated whenever they play. Talent and ability to create fast breakout plays neutralizes forechecking and makes hard forechecking a liability.

I think people keep underestimating Edmonton. The fact that Dallas has to go to a game 7 is quite shocking everyone was saying Dallas in 5 or 6 The fact Vancouver got eliminated is quite shocking as well mind you they didn't have Demko but silvos made some wild saves and didn't let in any freebees. Both were and are favourites. I think Edmonton is a better matchup than Dallas against the Panthers. Edmonton can get physical, they can get dirty, Dallas seems like a fish out of water when it comes to this style of play. It'll be interesting to see that's for sure.

As a ranger fan can’t agree more with the 1 on 1 battles. Rangers only have two players like that trocheck and goodrow. The rest of the team is soft and skill set.

The league doesn’t allow this boring style all season. Clutching grabbing, pick plays on zone entry. Interference on dump ins by defenders who no longer have to make an effort for the puck but can instead take hold up the attacking player. All season guys got to stand in front of the net untouched because it was illegal to interfere with them, but in the playoffs it’s an MMA fight and defender can basically do whatever they need to to ensure nobody can play the puck down low. The league loves skill but punishes it in the playoffs by allowing all this extra nonsense. It’s really hard to watch sometimes. They call it playoff hockey but really it’s just changing the rules and making it a different game.

Three seasons ago, the Panthers won an incredible amount of one score games. However, Huberdeau, and Barkov we’re not designed for the playoffs. I have completely revamped that team Barkov as a completely different player.

@@LostinMIA Sure sure just like Joysey played great hockey with trap many years ago. Florida can only play this style to defeat teams that have more skill by slowing them down with 3line like forcheck all over and slowly by cutting out oxygen than they grind for overpowering. I wish them to play bigger butchers than they are and than what ? Last year they did run out of themselves in finals I really hope the same happens to them this year. This is killing hockey , it is so ugly to watch and not flow just grind with dull axe chop fest . No this is not what skilled and fast hockey can offer . More teams like that and it will be self destruction all over by few playoff rounds . Nothing wrong with hits and physical aspects of the game . Hope they reach self destruction again so no half of the NHL plays this lumberjack crap by next season .
