I dont mind interracial dating but it would have been more interesting if she chose an asian guy or even an indian guy. Alot of people think when it comes to interracial dating they initially think black and white, when interracial couples come in all races. I felt like she should went outside of the box and been like look Im not going to choose the token white guy Im going for an asian or indian, hell I would have chosen an middle easterner.
@BlackMediaWatcher
@BlackMediaWatcher 11 жыл бұрын
I think it would of been awesome if it was an Asian or Indian man... not so much with the Middle Easterner since they were as much a part of the slave trade as the whites and hispanics(who get a collective free pass from black people) but anyway your 100% right. If they really wanted to talk modern than Black women and Asian men makes more sense especially when you consider that there is an actual level of soldarity and understanding between the two.... well Americanized Asian Men anyway... the others are iffy lol "A professor in college explained it by saying that blacks are generally considered masculine, and Asians are generally considered feminine. It works out fine for black men and Asian women, but leads to the situation you ask about" - Yellow Fever; Wong Fu Productions. I think it's the fact that Black women mostly want the White man or lightskin latino that some observers questions their motives. That's when it becomes an "Are you exploring your options or just trying to date for social mobility?" sort of thing that black females hate but any other free thinkers can't help but question.

***** I understand that but if people really want to educate themselves on interracial couples then they should take a broader approach because interracial means multiraces not just black and white. I get if that is normal to most but goes beyond that. Its not 60s, interracial couples come in all kind of races now.

I'm a black woman and I'm relatively open when it comes to dating - although I have preferences in some areas. I've actuality dated more out of the race than inside, and I still haven't found anything special. If it's not meant to be, it doesn't matter what race the person is. Fate has to work a miracle when it comes to finding true love.

I agree with Nia 100%. You have to go with what works best for you and I can honestly say that I am a black woman 50yrs. young and I have never had a good relationship with a black man including my ex husband. Don't get me wrong I have some wonderful black male friends truly salt of the earth but in a intimate relationship it just has not worked. I find myself relating better to men of other races and I am okay with that it. I think that single black women need to get out of their own way and choose something different if the old shit does not work basically stop whipping a dead horse the horse is already dead. Choose happiness, peace and joy over being miserable. I'm just sayin.

Show me an example of where a white actor/actress goes out of their way to make their love interest black in a movie that was iconic solely to their community. Afterwards find a video where the white actor/actress is sought out by a popular publication catering to other white people of their gender hailing the move as great and asking to discuss why they wanted a Black Love Interest for that particular movie. Then ask why Black American are the only people on the planet that feel they have to market themselves to other races? Many will not simply because they believe #Blackpowerisforblackmen while others simply do not want to think about race in such a critical manner. Either way I don't object to the movie and will take the girl I like to go see it. I just like thinking about these things. I personally think Madam Noire promotes Black Women getting with White Men and that they have a odd fixation with doing so but this movie does reflect Black America to a degree so I have no problems with it.

I often hear slavery used as the simply justification to be against black and white interracial marriage and I'm gradually getting more and more fed up. Why not apply that rule to everything? Why would we seek employment from white people and give them out business considering what slavery did? Why would we live in the west? I know someone will say that I'm being facetious but I'm trying to make a point. The fact is that we were not slaves and the white people around us today were not the enslavers. The past shouldn't be forgotten but it shouldn't be dwelt on either. It seems silly to cherry pick situations like interracial marriage to make slavery relevant but ignore it elsewhere where it may even be better applied. If a black hand or woman finds love with a white person or any other race that suits them then it should be fine. There is a concern about loss of culture but if we embrace people's love choices then we can still be an influence to ensure that they do not lose their culture, rather than isolating them away from it. What's the point of quoting people like MLK and Mandela if what they tell us goes in one ear and out of the other? I also find it ridiculous that people constantly suspect the worst when a black man or woman dates outside. They presume that it is because they self-hate and what-not. Sometimes that is the occasion but many times it is not. If you come to this judgement with no real evidence then consider that this is a reflection on your own insecurities and not the person you accuse.

Good for her, what's with all the racist talk from you? Get over it! Many people theses days DO NOT have issues with people of a different race. Stop building the problem. Loving someone isn't because of the color of their skin, it's what's in their heart. OBTW, my wife is a beautiful, awesome woman with lovely dark skin but her heart is pure...

Almost every interracial relationship in movies is Black Woman/White Man! Where are the interracial relationships in movies involving Black Man/White Woman? The problem (from my experience) is that most black women don't think black men can treat them right when in actuality, they don't want a black man to treat them right. It pisses me off when I hear black women stomping and putting down black men. I have no problem with any type of interracial relationships at all. I just have a problem with some of the motives behind it. Not every black man is bad and not every white guy is good. Black women are the main ones saying "All guys are the same" and that phrase pisses me off to the max because I believe I am a great guy and it's not cool to put everybody into one category when 8/10 it is not true!

As a black women, I don't think that neither a black women or man gets with another race because they think the grass is greener on the other side. I believe or would like to believe they get together out of love and the heart wants what the heart wants. Of course, there will always be people who do not know their self worth and get together for the wrong reasons.

I get what Nia is trying to say but when you have to showcase this then it goes into another direction and isnt really functioning. Alot of interracial couples go into this I only date "white" or I only Date Black. This is not only stereotypical but not necessary. Why do we feel that we have to go white to appear international and mainstream yet when you are white you stay white and you are still considered it. Wow this small level of self hatred is pathetic and seems to be the trend. Its Tired.

Love is love an if two people love each other, regardless of colour, gender or sexual preference😳, it must be their decision ... but my comment referred directly to the opinion of Nia Long. Her comment highlights the degree to which she is prepared to stoop & kneel, which is fine, but unfortunately her words may influence impressionable minds. And therefore she holds an very stupid tongue.
