I go to college at the University at Buffalo and was wondering where you went to get water access? is this far from north tonawanda? I plan on trying the niagara river for steelhead this year.

There are a number of state parks along the length of the river and all provide access to the water. Good luck!

Anywhere from about 12’ to 22’ depending on location and the speed of the drift.

I would have used the snow as a cushion instead of rocks for fish to be released, idea for the future.

What rod and reel do you use? I want to start float fishing for trout but i dont know where or what to start with.

The rod in this video is a Shimano Compre. It’s 12’6” light action and the reel is a Lews Mach Crush. But in my opinion a rod over 10’ long medium light action and a reel with a really smooth drag is what you need. Good luck!

I can tell you first hand it’s actually a little soft for the conditions and size of fish we are landing. It bends well and the tip is fast but there is very little backbone in the rod. It is however one of the only spinning options with length beyond 10’.
