I fall victim to this mistake too often. As they say, there is no place for a kind heart outside of your domicile. The world is truly a dog-eat-dog world. I guess... It's a little refreshing to know that this mistake is nothing new. That this quote exists, means that man has been making this mistake for ages and it is in our nature to be kind. It is only unfortunate that we cannot overcome humanities proclivity to ruin such goodness. But at least I am not alone in my mind.

I respectfully disagree. Fear inspires forced pretense. In other words, you lie, betray to survive, or use fake perception. Fear creates a threat of danger, a risk to oneself or loved ones. Fear causes anxiety, panic attacks, mental breakdowns. Fear is the result of deceit. Fear is the main weapon used in propaganda, finance, governance, wars and especially control of the mind. Machiavelli's style makes "the Prince" quite an enjoyable book to read. He uses particularly powerful analogies. My favorite is the lion and the fox. One of the greatest quotes of both the book and this video comes from the beginning of Chapter 18: "A prince, therefore, being compelled knowingly to adopt the beast, ought to choose the fox and the lion; because the lion cannot defend himself against snares and the fox cannot defend himself against wolves. Therefore, it is necessary to be a fox to discover the snares and a lion to terrify the wolves." This is a full version of the quote. I particularly like the beginning but it would probably be too long for the video.

Macchiavelli is delightful in his Tuscan language, which I have had the opportunity to listen and understand as a child since it arrived to twentieth century almost unchanged in pronunciation and verbiage. He spoke for powerful people of the Renaissance courts, not for lower class individuals, therefore he is a political philosopher! His book is about to achieve and maintain power for higher ideals not for lower personal interests 😮! Machiavelli was demonized since his teachings go against Christian teachings, which requires benevolence and forgiveness. He knew that in higher circles the fight for supremacy was to the last blood, therefore the end justifies the means. ( since many commented about the man who interrupts you, I would guess that he was speaking for the man that publicly, not only interrupts your reasoning but often contradicts you, which can be an absolute form of passive aggressive behavior especially if he does it in a way that embarrasses you in front of many, as we must presume he was talking about court discussions happened or even street and bar rooms discussions are still conducted now. Machiavelli was a good man and his mother was tortured for unknown reasons, so he knew how cruel humans could be and he had the courage to address this side of humanity. His model was the Valentino, son of a powerful pope who was so ruthless, that he was rumored to have his own brother killed and for sure killed his sister Lucrezia Borgia’s husband ( whom she loved dearly)in the Vatican!!! He also killed the supposed lover and favorite, of his father, while the poor devil tried to hide under the pope’s mantel!😮 Lucrezia for those who ignore true history, was a good woman who was used by his powerful men in the family, for achieving via matrimony power; she died at age 39 after having given birth to 9 children and was very much mourned by her last husband a powerful man of the Renaissance; one of her sons became cardinal and commissioned the Trevi Fountains Lucrezia was educated and religious and never poisoned anyone 😂

Niccola Machiavelli's political treatise( ll Principe) "The Prince" all should read. At this time in history whose side would one be on in court? I go edaciously Machiaevelli and if had lived longer than "The Fox" I then would have placed all my letters on a blazing fire. What a writer and philosopher.

You know, I often find myself interrupting people who are telling me stories. Someone once said I need a picture drawn for me. I gotta say however, in my defense. I never went to college and never liked high school, but I was born with I high functioning math type brain. So I’m actually pretty smart without the education, it’s helpful all day long just simplifying most interactions. The way this affects me is when I’m listening to a persons story, i know they’re leaving out important details, or minimally important details, and I’ll ask them a question. I don’t change the subject or cut them off completely, I just feel I need to know something at that moment. They often say “Just let me finish”, they don’t like the interruption. I don’t care if they have three master degrees, my brain is always clicking, and I can tell they left something out. It’s not disrespectful at all, there’s people like me out there so don’t be offended.

Interrupting someone is only useful if you require hijacking the moment Unfortunately the world seems to reward those who have the attention on them far more then those who do not care about having the attention on them If you manage to succeed without requiring the attention on you , you have a blessed life and are likely worthy of attention because you have something very valuable , knowledge worth hearing

The only problem with fear, is that it causes resentment and hate, people hate what they fear, so love and fear should coexist in a balance

What’s left out of the fear and love quote is the next sentence which says that one must not be feared to the point of being hated. That point is left out just about every time the quote comes up.

Oh somebody could interrupt because somebody is incorrect in the statement they are making and if they are balance and you are correct in interrupting them you will come up with a resolution not always is the case when somebody interrupts a bad thing sometimes an interruption has to happen for a balanced conversation because that person can continue with what they were saying and if they forget you can remind them and then you continue on with that conversation in a balanced manner

A little word history. “Vulgar” didn’t have the same meaning as it does today. In that era of time in history ‘vulgar’ referred to the masses, the common folk, the bulk of society, the 80% of society if you know the Pareto Principal. A little extra: With that said the masses were largely uneducated therefore their everyday language was broken and spoken incorrectly. Jargon, slang, ‘dirty’ language ,idioms came largely from the ‘vulgar’ crowd which transcends to today when something distasteful is said or presented it’s referred to as being ‘vulgar’.

I read that the Vulgar languages were the common everyday language that was spoken in the streets but never written. The Sacred languages were used when Praising God because when worshipping God officially during The Divine Liturgy/Holy Mass or offering sacrifices at the Ancient Hebrew Temple, nobody would dare speak to God with the same language that you speak to joe schmoe on the corner. Sacred Languages are put aside and used only for God. Hebrew is the Sacred tongue, Aramaic is the Vulgar. Koine Greek and Ecclesiastical Latin are Sacred. Modern Greek and Italian/Spanish etc are the Vulgar.
