I get a good brown and rainbow to eat while drift fishing bait from my small boat at lake Almanor.

Thanks. Hard fighting cold water trout like that are always fun on light tackle. Thanks for tuning in. Hope we can all get out and get a lot of fishing in during the new year!

@@noejauregui3212 Thanks. I'll keep trying to keep the fishing hot through winter. My recent move to Reno puts me in range of a lot more good fishing and, once the snow melts, backpacking/hiking. Hopefully i'll be able to keep producing some worth while footage. Thanks for watching.

Does Brown Trout taste different than Rainbow Trout?
@wildernesswithamani10272 жыл бұрын
A little. I think the skin cooks up differently for sure. My personal favorite are cold water rainbow trout. The ones I pull from the shore at Lake Tahoe tops. Cooks up a lot like salmon.

Dang that place looks beautiful. When where you there?

Couple days ago. It was nice as long as you dress warm and stay dry! It was way nicer than it was when I was there on Christmas. There was still plenty of snow in the shade to keep your fish nice and fresh in a cooler until you can get home to clean them if you are looking for a tasty meal. Think the weather is going to hit a nasty stretch in about week. Plenty of snow for everything after that! Thanks for watching.

That brown was great. Beautiful pink meat. Cut it into 4 sections and baked it. I haven't fished that lake since high school in the 80's and it is still producing quality winter trout. probably try to hit it one more time before the warm weather crowds show up. Happy New Year!

I think got to your comment a little late for your trip. The fishing has been slow in Tahoe for me lately. It seems like the grip of Winter just won't give in. I have a Lake Tahoe shore fishing playlists that has a number of spots. The rivers are high and tough to fish. I have been getting good trout in the Truckee but it's tough. Nearby Boca Reservoir in Truckee is ice free but I haven't hit a lot of good trout there. Hope you got some fish. Sorry I was late on info but I work long shifts when I'm not fishing and I often don't have the energy or will to get to all of my content in a timely fashion. Sorry about that.

Where is that?

Lake Almanor. I hadn't been there since the 80's so first I went to check it out just fishing from shore. I decided to return with my boat the next week after seeing the quality of fish seemed to hold strong since I was last there. I trolled a bit with a rapala but didn't get anything. Got those two trout drifting bait. Fish tasted great. Cut the brown into large sections and baked it. I pan fried the rainbow and it was even better. Most things fried are! Beautiful pink meat from some hard fighting fish.

Wilderness with Amani. Wow that's great, those pink meat trout are really good aren't they. I live in lake almanor, and I was wondering where in lake almanor you were fishing. I usually go to big springs, feather river, or hamilton branch river. All are pretty good fishing.

I hope to hit the Hamilton Branch this spring. I caught a fat rainbow in there back in the 80's, I'm overdue for a return visit! Hope you get some good fishing in soon.
