Japanese mainstream comedy is "I see panty haha funny misunderstanding." Or most of it is. In Japan, masterpieces of slapstick comedy like Nichijou and Saiki K are overlooked. But the younger generation which are getting increasingly more and more exposed to outside cultures via the internet have a greater appreciation for it.

The premise is quite Simple. Its japanese for my ordinary life but its not so ordinary. Its broken up into skits and alot of the humor comes from over the top reactions to ordinary situations and ordinary situactions that get wild. Its about 3 best friends Yuko the energetic slacker who is horrible in school, Mio the smart one with a hot temper, and Mai who is also super smart, loves pulling pranks on her friends, is deadpan and is quite most of the time. Other skits are about Hasake: an 8 year old little girl who happens to be an inventor. Dispite being a genius she acts like a realistic 8 year old. She is spoiled and bratty but has her sweet moments. There is Nano the robot girl she created. Nano is her surogate older sister. She is often the straightman, she always hides the fact that she is a robot and wants to be a normal little girl, she is very sweet, and kinda shy and mild mannered.

I just placed my order for this Blu-Ray coming out on the 23rd, just yesterday. It's already on order. I ordered this BEFORE the horrific attack on KyoAni. Now i'm going to get it, and i'm going to have to watch one of my favorite shows, knowing that the director of this opening and many episodes of the show has been murdered by some horrible asshole in a senseless arson. I.... don't know how to feel, anymore. I'm going to spend my time watching Nichijou crying over every brilliantly animated thing in it. :( But i'm going to soldier on through the tears, and appreciate this show once again. Because Kyoto Animation and all the people there WANTED their work to be loved and enjoyed. I'm going to honor them by loving their work even though it hurts to watch it so soon, already. But they wanted their anime to be watched and loved. I'll honor them.

As much as some people would love a dub, I personally don't think anything could replace the original Japanese. The voice actors and actresses who worked on this series were so extremely talented, and I think if FUNi were to release a dub, it wouldn't translate very well into English (some jokes just wouldn't work/be as funny, plus I don't think anything could top the level of talent and craziness of the original Japanese dub). Just my opinion though. I'm SO happy you guys got the rights to this!!

This is Funimation. The majority of the dubs they do end up outclassing the original japanese dub. Just look at DBZ, FMA Brotherhood, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop and more.
