Such a damn fine tune. Still adore it. That soaring yet melancholic finish is the ultimate thing to maneuver your body to, as per TV-head man in the clip.

I feel so sorry for him. The song is truly sad but everything in the song makes this song what it is. A depressing masterpiece. He feels guilty for not being there for his Grandparent when they were sick. This person eventually died and Nick was never there to say good bye and such he feels guilty. He’s trying to make amends for not being there for one by spending time with the others. He never wants to feel like guilty about not doing enough again, so he does everything he can. That is what the song represents.

@7FridayGirl10910 жыл бұрын
Not sure. I do believe that the video Pond did for "Fantastic Explostion Of Time" is very similar to this one, and Pond are friends with MGMT, so it's possible.

I think this is about his Grandparents who lived in Carmel, WA. Just trying to decipher the lyrics. Help? He was right. Everytime, like every time. He was right. (something here???) I didn't let it ruin my night, I just sighed. Then when, I finally cried, I found out the old girl finally died, she finally died. Chorus: But I don't wanna feel that again, selfish and uncaring, it's a fucking awful pain. and I don't wanna feel that again, smoking in the (carpark and lying about my age?) (Something here??) With grandpa and his mortal soul I helped (??? with the gun,) grandpa getting really old, really really old. Walkin 100k's round Carmel where the fucking (???) (???) (chorus)
@OmerAssraf9 жыл бұрын
I think you're getting close, I'm dying to find the right lyrics and maybe even ask Nick about it, this song is freakin' brutal, in the most delicious apocalyptic kind of way.
@corymcknight69109 жыл бұрын
"But I'm dumb, an awful son"? "Smoking in the car park while I lie about my age" "I walk 100 k's round Carmel with a fucking cup of tea. The ??? can be pretty harmful but that won't bother me" My best guesses at filling in some of the blanks.

He was right, every time, like every time, he was right, ah-ah By the dawn of the sun I didn't let it ruin my night, I just sighed and then when I finally cried, I found out the old girl finally died, she finally died But I don’t want to feel that again selfish and uncaring guilt's a fucking awful pain And I don’t want to feel that again Smoking in the car park while I lie about my age I watch the next test bowl for bowl, grandpa and his mortal soul, ah-ah I help your still with the garden, and grandpa getting really old, really-really old I'm walking 100 k's 'round Carmel with the fucking cuppa tea, yeah The cooking can be pretty harmful but that won't bother thee, no-no, no-no But I don’t want to feel that again selfish and uncaring guilt's a fucking awful pain And I don’t want to feel that again Smoking in the carpark while I lie about my age But I don’t want to feel that again selfish and uncaring guilt's a fucking awful pain But I don’t want to feel that again Smoking in the carpark while I lie about my age I think the song is about how when he lived with his grandparents as a kid growing up, he goes out one night to smoke weed for one of his first times in the car park with some older teens and ends up staying out all night until morning. When he comes back home he finds his grandmother died and he wasn't there for his grandfather when it happened and this is his source of his "selfish and uncaring, guilt's a fucking awful pain." So he tries his best to be a better grandson and he helps his grandfather with his garden any chance he gets "help your still with the garden", and never complains about the cooking "the cooking can be pretty harmful but that won't bother thee", but still only occasionally and extremely cautiously experiments with marijuana or "watch(es)the next test bowl for bowl", but every time he can't bare the paranoia that it will happen again and that will be when his grandfather dies too.
