I don’t understand why people fight the legs with their hands when the opponent is potentially choking them

Me either but I see it from high level guys all the time. I can only assume they’re fixated on the opponent not getting the 4 points from that second hook, but I also see it when both hooks are in, which is an even worse time to leave the choke. I always teach to keep the hands fighting the choking arm until your shoulders or back is on the mat.

Meregali gave no openings here the back take is so clean... After taking the back, the level of control is insane, he is faking a classic cross strangle but transitions to a high single one without losing the seatbelt grip so seamlessly is insane, shades of Roger Gracie. He didn't even needed the leverage of the 2nd leg on how tight was that single cross+grip. And notice that Sosa is not passive at all he is trying to break the single grip moving his lapel away and fighting the 2nd leg. Meregali makes it look so easy hahahahaha.

@@AlejoViloria but regardless his opponent uses his hand to defend the hook rather than his neck. i would always concede points over tapping. whats worst 4points or game over? i always try to use my hips and legs vs their hooks and have both hand keeping me alive around 2.25 hes defending the left hook with his hand when his hand should have been stopping/preventing/defending collar grips ect as other poster mentions,so many top competitors do this and lose because of this too bu the way im a big megerali fan

Esses atleta treina em auto nível , tem que ter uma técnica pra combater a outra, pode até chegar a finalizar mas não pode ser fácil demais, tu que tá falando o que não sabe!!
