Americans especially determine age by definition of facial features and body size so being that most of us are dumb that’s how they interpret the simplistic designs of anime characters, but they’re also cherry-picking with less detailed art styles because they know the argument doesn’t hold up when those are brought up. In things like AOT, JoJo’s, (OG)Naruto, DBZ, JJK and the list goes on it’s very clear who is an isnt adult. These are the things that typically do better in the west. They see expressive as defined features, where as we see the ability to express emotion through both. Just think about it. Western cartoons start off extremely simply drawn and then as you get to the teenage and adult cartoons they get more and more detailed. Ofc the idiot NPC’s are gonna be like “oH dAt mUsT bE fOr KiDs”. But also you have to be somewhat terminally online to care what stupid people think. Most of them are probably in middle school or bots too.

But that doesn't mean I'm gonna force myself watch it). I can see why people might say Konosuba is similar to Mashoku, but MCs look way too different in my eyes (at first they seem similar, but the more I watched them the more I realized how different they are. Kazuma never give me the creepy feeling of s1 Rudeus who, as a +20 adult, was freakin raising an elementary school girl so she would fall in love with him and become 'his type of woman' when she grows up (and he even succeeded in doing that).. like wth dude. Kazuma acts totally weird and creepy as well sometimes, but his creepiness is more like a funny type of creepiness than evil/disgusting, unlike some moments of the s1 Rudeus)
