I think the end of their marriage was the perfect storm. She was young and not really ready to get married. She was still coming into her own and building her career and figuring out who she was as a woman.. he was 8 years older than she was so he had a lot of life experience she didn’t have yet. She didn’t know how to take care of a home and all that goes into that.. those are things that come with time and life experience.. On top of that she was becoming more and more successful than he was so that was a huge hit to his ego.. it would be for most men.. it completely changes the dynamic in the relationship when one person is going one direction, and the other person is staying still. It just goes to show that love isn’t always enough when it comes to a successful relationship.

orginally, i always thought Joe was the impetus for the divorce but really I think Jessica changed (you can see it in the episodes) - it's a different time now for women, getting married at 22 typically wont work for this generation especially when their celebrity status became heightened - it just broke; funny there is a clip from interview footage from this dvd on youtube and Jessica said she called him on sept 10th 2001 and he said in so many words he did not want to give her another chance and said "you are out of my life, I am dating other women, etc." I couldn't believe nick would say that to her even after she asked for another shot, but I was glad to hear he did - she seemed to want to find love out there by force rather than naturally - she was just so ready to be married but couldn't find anyone in their short breakup so she ran back to him...
