I just got diagnosed with SLE this month which inflamed my kidneys. I'm female mid 50's. I was lucky the rheumatologist who diagnosed me called a kidney specialist the next day and the inflammation was caught early enough so I am being treated aggressively. I had to change my diet as well. I too am eating egg whites- not bad with some Mrs. Dash:) A lot of meds for now though. It's a little scary but I am determined to keep a positive mindset. Support of family and friends has helped greatly.

I've got "Systemic Lupus, Erythematosus" I was diagnosed last year on ( Sept 28th 2016 ) its completely awful the exposure to fluorescent lights and even Sunlight can make me sick and nauseated. I get extremely tired at times from fatigue. And I have to sleep for like 3 - 4 hours at a time. My body temperature tends to go up and I get fevers in the back of my head. It goes down my spine then disappears

He is so likeable. I can see why Mariah fell for him. On another note, I want to put in a plug for sleep. I read recently that sleep is to the immune system what stress is to the immune system. Stress can cause stroke and so can a lack of sleep. I didn't know that. So it's important to not abuse the body thru sleep deprivation. Sleep, people!

You make it sound like people don't want to sleep. Of course we all want to sleep with no problems but it's not that easy to make your body stay asleep for 8 hours. Stress causes people to lose alot of sleep.

At my worse I slept 20+ hours a day, just getting up to drink, pee and take meds, couldn't stop sleeping. Now diagnosed took 12 years to be diagnosed, on strong meds and sleep 12 hours a day, although 11 years after diagnosis I'm gradually creeping down to 10 hours. That feels great

I was just diagnosed with lupus yesterday. Both biopsies on some bumps of my leg tested positive. They are doing an even deeper biopsy tomorrow and I will hopefully have some more information on what strand I have been diagnosed with. I have about 60 or so red “bumps” on my body. Most of them are on my legs. A few on my hips and a few on my arm. Not itchy at all. Just very painful and red. I am a 28 year old father of two boys. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t pretty scared as to what the future is going to look like. I am currently a CDL A truck driver and my life has always consisted of very labor heavy jobs. I found it hard to even walk last night because the bumps felt like they were popping out of my legs. My dermatologist prescribed me prednisone to help with the swelling. Should I seek a lupus specialist or something like that? I just want to make sure everything gets done correctly for the remainder of my life

OzZy401 yep. You need an auto immune doctor and regular therapy. If not treated it gets worse all at once. Praying for you but yes get scheduled for an ongoing doctor for your lupus.

Nick, Lupus Nephritis is Lupus. Its an autoimmune disease..Lupus that attacks the kidneys. I have Lupus myself and it has enlarged my liver and spleen many times in the past. I hope you are on some strong meds like Imuran or Methtrexate. Keep strong and continue doin you. Make sure to rest though as getting fatigued with Lupus isnt the best thing. Congrats on the babies!
