I discovered Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds my freshman year of college (1983), and went to my first concert in 1987 after seeing "Wings of Desire," one of my favorite films. Mr. Cave and his music and writings have accompanied me on my journey through young adulthood, midlife, and now my senior years (I turned 60 today). While there are artists I adore like Bowie, Joy Division, and the Cure, I feel a special spiritual affinity with Mr. Cave. Maybe because of his books; maybe because of his faith; maybe because of the tragedies he has endured; maybe because I can actually afford tickets to his concerts?!?! Whatever the reason, the deep connection is there.
