when i first saw this movie, I was like 'what the hell is this cool music!?' Nick Cave really fits this film. love it.

I remember this vividly. I sat next to a friend who loved independent/alternative music but was not a huge fan of Saint Nick as he is known in Australia. We saw a very late showing of - Wings of Desire - in late 1988. We were almost following asleep as it was a cold winters night in Sydney s the movie had begun at 11:45 pm. I almost fell asleep when I heard the words to The Carny. I then saw Nick Cave (my hero and idle and at the time ) and was blown away. My friend said "oh noooo" when he saw Saint Nick say "this song is not about a girl.". One of my favourite clips of all time. I still walk and cry when I hear this version.......

The moment when the strobes start the entire theatre gasped. I saw it in NYC when it opened. Still a masterpiece.

I'm not Tralian, I'm his other half, and I love this song! Actually it was from the motion picture 'Wings of Desire' one of the best and most thought provoking artistic movies of all time. I love the obsessiveness of this song:) If you haven't experienced the movie you should...Cheri

In the director's commentary for the film, Wim Wenders talks highly of the club and does mention its name. I don't recall the name but I think it was somewhere around Potsdamer Platz and it was demolished after reunification.
